Last week, while on the highway, I could not avoid hitting a deer carcass at full speed. Volt drove OVER the carcass and continued without trouble. But the next day, there were problems. The car had a nasty vibration. A roar. A shake.

A trip to the body shop revealed the worst. The splash guards were ripped off. The transmission was bent. The mounts were hit. And worst of all ... Bambi dented the battery. Insurance estimated over $10,000 of damage. Total loss.

And I paid the car off free and clear three months ago. :(

I had a fun run with the car. And I was glad to be part of and share info and receive info from the r/volt community.

To be fair, I tried to get another Volt - but the two on Cars.com were snapped up within seconds of my arrival at the dealership, the ones on Carvana looked skeevy, and one dealer in Massachusetts wouldn't sell me the car because I lived in New York (something to do with their rules on registering a car or some other horseshit).

And for all the driving I do, I didn't think a Bolt would work for me (only 290 miles of range, and 90 minutes to a full charge on a fast charger). And there was no way I was getting into a Prius or a Tesla.

So I placed a down payment on a '17 Chevy Malibu Hybrid last night.

I don't think I've ever felt so comfortable in a car as I did with this '17 Premier. No BECM problems, no shift to park, just a couple of issues with the EGR that were easily fixable.

But yeah ... pour one out for Lightning's Girl.

This would be my Top 5 at the moment -
