Guys, I hate this timeline we’re in where I hear a new band (new to me) and immediately have to dig through apps to see if they’re AI

Because as we know, AI bands have really made a home in metalcore. It’s so frustrating. I’m so tired of it lol

Honestly, it’s been a bit since I’ve gotten one on Spotify that I’ve noticed, but that’s also maybe because I’ve stopped using Discover Weekly and started using Release Radar. Which kind of sucks because most of my giant playlist of various genres was found in Discover Weekly over the years

But this song and dance of having to open their Spotify and check for anything pre-2023, then if they’re a newer band having to check social media, it’s all so exhausting and bleak

I don’t even want to say fuck AI here. I think it has its uses. But fuck people who use AI to make art as if it’s their own

Edit: To be clear, this isn't a "boo Spotify/Apple/Whatever" type of post. This is an "I am now unable to trust new bands I hear and I hate what AI has done to me" type of post

Amazon Driver Followup: You should know Amazon does not reward us for good reviews, only punished us for bad reviews.

EDIT: punishes*

On my post from last night, I saw a lot of frustration upon people finding out their positive reviews on us are meaningless to Amazon.

I wanted to make this into a main post because, while we don’t have power as drivers, maybe you guys do as customers. Perhaps customers can make Amazon change how it sees us.

As it stands, Amazon does not count your positive reviews. If I do 1500 deliveries, and I receive 100 compliments, the only thing those compliments get me is a mental pat on the back if I go look at them in my app. I have to go look for them. However, if I get 2/1500 negative feedback, my scorecard will be impacted and lowered.

I’m showing you guys what WE see on our scorecards.

That week, I received 1 negative review saying the package was never received. You’ll notice nowhere on that screen any positive reviews. I got them, but that doesn’t matter to Amazon. They explicitly state it in their explanations of our metrics.

Other possible negative feedback categories:

Mishandled Package (which could literally be a matter of me delivering something that was broken inside the box that I would not know about. Amazon blames us since all drivers are 3rd party)

Did Not Follow Instructions (usually not an issue since often reports of this kind end up being bad customer notes)

Unprofessional

Delivered To Wrong Address

The kicker? One customer could go and report 3 different reasons, and all 3 reports will hurt us as if it were 3 unique customers. One customer can take a perfect employee’s score down to the lowest tier. One customer out of the usual ~1400

Edit: Also, we don’t see WHY we were reported. Amazon tells us you reported us for not following instructions, but they don’t say who “you” are, where this happened, what instructions we didn’t follow, etc. You can’t learn from the mistake

Amazon Driver here. Those auto texts about porch lights and stuff? Yea, we can see your replies

I feel the need to make this post because I’ve encountered yet another rude text, and frankly some people need to get a grip.

As it starts to get darker at night, you’ll probably find you get a text from Amazon about turning on your porch lights, keeping your dogs inside, etc., as this is just a courtesy so we can do our jobs safely and efficiently. What you need to know is Amazon sends that text, but it’s on our behalf. It’s tied directly to our account for whatever reason. I usually do not open the text window, as I know it’s the auto texts and they’re usually gone quickly as I deliver and it clears out.

Now, every so often someone replies to those texts. Usually it’s who I assume is an older person usually replying with an “Okay” or “👍”

But every once in a while, it’s “idgaf hurry up with my order” or “give me my damn package.” I can only imagine I get more of these than I realize, but as I said, I don’t really check that tab.

While I personally do not return items out of spite, I think most drivers probably would, and justifiably so.

Just something to chew on as we’re in the throes of the hardest season and already feeling bad

How exactly do I find products in physical stores that are actually near me? Because Google "near me" is almost entirely online, sponsored products.

Every time I want to find something "near me," which I will even search in quotes, most of the things I get results on are either online stores OR they're places like Walmart, but items they don't actually sell in-store but rather online only

It is extremely frustrating to deal with when you're trying to find specific items, and Google keeps telling you to click on alllllll these stores near you but every single one is just "shipping available" type of link

So right now, I work as an Amazon delivery driver. I’ve given this job a few years now and my “I don’t know what I’m doing with my life” meter is full. I need to get out but I don’t actually know what my options are

I am tired of such a physical job. I would love to just have an office role where I’m in a social-ish environment but not actually expected to be socially “on” all the time. I can’t save PTO at this job, so I don’t get to actually have personal days or god forbid a vacation. The smallest mistake now has been turned into a massive deal because of Amazon’s newest policy with the contractors.

I want stability. I don’t want to have to worry about making my 40 hours. I want to be able to pay my rent and bills (which aren’t even insane).

This is something I've noticed for a while now, and it just seems extra frustrating as of late. I'll read a book in bed, and I will slowly get more and more tired as I read until I'm doing that one-eye-shut fighting demons to keep the other eye open thing, and then I will doze off and the book hitting my chest wakes me up.

I keep reading until the end of the chapter, struggling the whole time, and then I close the book. I shut my eyes, ready to fall right into sleep, and next thing I know it's 1 hour later and I'm scrolling my phone because I've given up trying to fall asleep.

The issue is I don't want to lose my spot in my book, or damage the pages, or else I would simply let myself fully fall asleep with the book
