Hi,

I have been living here since mid 2022. I have been paying all of the taxes in Japan like pension, health insurance through work. However, I am confused about my stocks in USA. I get about $40-50k USD a year. I of course pay taxes on those doing H&R block but then do I also pay taxes on that in Japan? If so, would I owe any money?

When I do my H&R block taxes, I of course do the tax credit.

I am just unsure about how to get about US taxes in Japan since I already pay the tax in USA for it.

Hello all,

I am 34 currently. My portfolio size is about $650 - 700k. I have focused on growth and sold my winnings.

I am thinking of just holding VTI, QQQM, SPYI, IAUI, QQQI & MLPI.

Thanks to these and my other streams of income, I was able to semi-retire. I now live overseas where costs are down. (I actually dont have to work but I get bored so I work and bring in $125K a year in low cost country). Anyways, having NEOS funds and my holdings bring in $3000-4000K a month now. I currently have $150K in my portfolio sitting in cash from selling my other winnings. I am thinking of dumping into the mentioned fund above. If I were to distribute my $150K, I should be able to bring in additional $1500-3000 depending on how its distribute it. I do not care for growth and would rather have income and reinvest/drip them.

Would you consider this a good idea for the distribution of the $150K?

or having NEOS funds is too risky..whats your thought on that? (yes i know theyre fairly new and some may say theyd be cautious of covered call option strategy payouts).

Ps: please dont say you should buy growth stocks. Im ok and dont ask me why not for my age. I just dont care, i got VTI and QQQM for it, theyre my long term holds. Ive got about decent money in them and will continue to add/drip them.

I do IT and IT freelance.

I currently earn ¥7.5M yen a year wfh for a full time company. On top of that I do IT freelance for local companies. Last year it brought me a total of ¥12M yen altogether.

Just now, I was offered a $6100/ USD a month (as of current yen/usd, its ¥11.7M yen a year) from one of my freelance client to become their full time employee but through a contracting agency(that’s how i work for them currently as a freelancer). I have always been paid in USD when I worked for them for small one day projects here and there. However, they want to keep it the same pay style but as a full time role.

My current full time is the one that’s paying all of my taxes and hoken/nenken. I then pay more taxes on top of the for my freelance jobs.

My question is.. if I do accept this position and get paid in USD. They expect me to pay my own dues in my own time. How does this work with nenken/hoken/zeikin?

I’ve met this girl while back and she’d asked me if I’d like to go get early dinner but my time doesn’t align with hers. I propose a different time around 19:00. She then says, can you come with me to my work at Lounge bar?

What does this mean? What is it? I am bit confused what the difference is. Can some one help me with this and is this woman trying to make me pay for some service. If so, what is it?

This story might be bit long and im not good at writing long stuff and explaining. (Japan). Not sure if this is “choosing beggar” but here’s the story

The first part of story happened 2 years ago. I was at a local club with few of my friends and we bumped into this lady who was there drinking at the bar, let's call her Sammy. Sammy was cool but bit weird vibe but we didn't care. My friends befriended with her and they were talking about one of the guy who worked at the bar, let's name him dave. Dave didn't give her any time of the day either. Anyways, we ended the night just chillen.

Couple of weeks go by and we meet up Sammy again at the same bar and we just chilled. Nothing major happened. Sammy did still talk about how cute Dave was. My friends and I were like "naah he has many girls" and thought he wouldn't give Sammy any chance even for sex. Shes cool but she's not attractive at all. Anyways nothing happened. And we met up with Sammy again couple more times until we stopped going to that bar. And nothing came of it.

2nd part of the story.
About 1 year after, I decided to go to that bar and met Sammy and just chilled with her a bit and exchanged hellos and how are yous.

After this night, a week later, Sammy sends me a message and says she is pregnant. I asked how it happened.. she said she actually started working with Dave at different bar and they were gonna go home together at the first train. However, her word, Dave took her to love hotel (Japan has a lot of this) and raped her and now she's pregnant. She says about 800 USD (¥130,000?) to get abortion and asked me for money.

Now, I feel bad but I also don’t believe her story but that’s not my problem. I told her to ask her real friends and family or Dave. She says Dave is broke and can’t ask her family.

I offered her $30 bucks. And told her that I’m sorry and I was not the one who have done this to her.
She cursed me out and said that she knew I have money so that’s why she asked and that I should give it her. (This conversation lasted 30 mins of same repeat of her asking for money).

I stopped talking to her after she kept leaving me voice message and that she’s disappointed and upset with me.

Edit: everybody acting like they know exactly how to react this to this situation lol. Yall be guilliable enough to give me a liar $800 bucks when she was working at the pub a week later just chillen.

Trying to wall mount a tv but it seems the stud is hard to locate. I know it’s not like the USA where it’s every 16inch apart but I can’t find the stud anywhere except for one place but then I couldn’t locate other studs around it. It was just specifically just in that one spot.

What’s good stud finder in Japan you recommend?

Been holding MSFT for 2 years and it hasnt done shyt for me. Ive DCA too and it still shit. Where would you park $40K right now?

I have NOK on $7ish right now. some other growth stock. maybe expand my shares in AAPL and GOOG (ive already own some).

What would you do?

I got $15k each for SpaceX and anthropic IPO ready hopefully in June.
