Corvallis is even more of a ghost town than usual this summer

I don't know if its just me, but it seems like Corvallis is way more empty this summer than in past years. There were barely any people at the 4th of July festival for the fireworks, I was able to park right near it. In past years, the roof of Sky High was so busy that they were at capacity and had to count people, but now it was just a small crowd. Even downtown this weekend felt really quiet. The Open Streets event also had very few people as far as I could tell.

Can't find King Oscar anywhere

I used to buy KO sardines (Mediterranean or tiny tots) all the time, and could find them at most grocery stories. Now, they seem to have disappeared from the shelves. Is this a regional thing (PNW), or a supply thing, or am I just unlucky?

The lowest tier journals have the most anal-retentive reviewers.

I am dealing with reviews for a manuscript that tumbled down from a higher journal to the "catch-all" journal for a scientific society. The reviews we received are the most nit-picky and demanding that I have seen anywhere for what is admittedly a small paper.

Reviews at top journals tend to be about the big picture science and whether the experiments support the conclusions. This is picking at details and asking for unrelated waste of time figures. The reviewer doesn't even recognize a really common type of analysis in the field that we did. It is like the crab in a bucket mentality.

List of pottery studios in the area?

I need a utensil holder for my kitchen, and I was thinking of getting one made by a local potter. I was wondering if there is a list anywhere of local studios? I have seen a few booths at the farmers market, and there are usually a bunch at the fall festival, but I can't seem to find a list anywhere. Is there a guild or website listing local pottery makers online anywhere?

Firefox auto updates despite settings

I am on a Mac, running Firefox 151.0.1 (aarch64). I have the settings set to disable autoupdates ("Check for updates but let you choose to install them"), however it keeps automatically installing them anyway. I get the "you must restart firefox" tab everytime, which is infuriating when I am trying to get work done. Why does Firefox ignore the setting?

Tiny kitchen - bigger sink or more counter space?

I am working on remodeling my kitchen in my vintage house. The kitchen is very small, about a 9x9 room with 3 doorways. I am working on getting new countertops, and currently it has a large double bowl enamel overmount sink. The full countertop length for the cabinets near the sink is 87".

I would like to put in a single bowl undermount sink. The sink cabinet is 33" wide, but its custom built into the wall and is only 23" deep from front to back. I have only found two sinks that are shallow enough front to back that would fit, a 30" sink and a 26" sink.

My challenge is this, I can't decide if I would prefer a bigger sink, or get the smaller sink and have more counter space. I do have a dishwasher, and there is a pull out cutting board on one side of the sink. I would be washing large pots and pans but otherwise throw things in the dishwasher.

Sink size for shallow cabinets

I am working on updating the kitchen in my vintage house and I am picking out sinks and countertops. The cabinets, original to the house, are built into the wall, but they are slightly shallower than typical. From the backsplash wall to the front face of the cabinet is about 23", and from the wall to the inside frame of the cabinet front is about 22.5". This is about 1" shallower than is typical.

There is currently an enamel overmount sink that I would like to replace with an undermount sink along with new countertops. Most of the undermount sinks I've seen are 19" from front lip to back lip, which leaves only a few inches for a spot for the faucet hole to go. I'm not sure if this is too close to the backsplash or would leave the countertop too thin there. I have found one sink thats 18" front to back, but it would be a bit smaller width-wise.

My question is, how much space do I need for a faucet hole and between the faucet and the back wall?

I have an older 3-way illuminated rocker switch that controls the lights in my garage from my laundry room. The light on this switch is on when the power is off to the garage lights, and off when it is powered.

I replaced it with a new 3-way illuminated rocker switch (https://leviton.com/products/l5613-2w) that is the same brand, except it is white and has a white illumination instead of an orange light. I wired it the exact same as the previous switch. The new switch correctly turns on and off the garage lights.

However, the illumination inside the switch is constantly on regardless of how the switch is flipped. Is this likely to be something wrong with the wiring, or a defective switch? Here are images of the switch and its wiring. The garage lights are fluorescent tubes, if that matters. Thanks!
