First time homebuying home run

I talked about this before, and this'll be my last post about this on this sub, but holy shit things worked so good it has to be a statistical outlier.

First time buying a home.

• They lowered the price 3 times. I ended up offering slightly below asking + 3% seller's concessions. They immediately said yes

• The house appraised for almost 20k more than purchase price

• I managed to get a lower rate due to a special program I qualified for for being poor

• The sellers agreed to repair ALL of the issues found in the inspection report

• We're closing earlier than expected

• The house is compliant

I genuinely cannot believe it worked out so well. I'm dying to get moving. Just need to hold on a few more days and the keys are mine

I can't get an apartment due to a criminal history so I guess I'll just buy a house

Part of me wants to be humble about it, but part of me feels so vindicated because I've been dealing with living in third-world conditions for so damn long.

Every single apartment I've applied to has been a waste of application fees. The anxiety alone feels like it's costing me years of my life. To be rejected despite a good credit score and making enough for a deposit and everything? It's hell. Even people without a criminal history are suffering because it takes so damn much just to prove you can afford it.

So I decided no, fuck you corporate apartment management company, fuck you slumlords, I'm just going to do my own thing. I dealt with the conditions I was in and I saved, saved, saved. I go out like once every 4 months, I don't drive, I eat nothing but beans and rice, and I finally saved enough money for a down payment.

Homeownership is the ultimate fuck-you to the system. No one can take this away from me as long as I make my payments, and believe me I will. Whatever the hell it takes. I've seen what rock bottom looks like. No more of that. It's time to move on.

Dug out of hell

Considering there's like nowhere else to even talk about this... bit of a long one. Don't really expect anyone to read this all the way through or respond positively, if at all.

Fucked up big time years ago and paid the price for it. Lot of late nights and lot of suicidal thoughts over guilt for years on end. No one was hurt, sting op, but to most people that doesn't really matter. Once you're on the list, you're pretty much done for (unless you're a high-ranking politician or well-connected, apparently).

I get out of jail and I'm pretty much screwed. Student loan debt? Check. Credit card debt? Yep. Court fines? Definitely. Not to mention, my parents' house is in a non-compliant zone, so I need to move out within a week. Lovely. I move to a run-down hotel and drain all my savings in less than 30 days. Panic applying to jobs and feeling more hopeless by the day. I get one interview—an AI HR lady talks to me and bugs out. I consider drinking until I can't anymore.

Then, a close friend offers me a place to stay. It's not much, actually it should be condemned, but it's all I have. I clean, sweep, organize, and move everything with the help of my parents. I turn a shack into a home with what I can. It's a sanctuary. Over the next year or so, I make money freelancing as no background checks are required, until I finally catch a break and land a remote job. It's also not much, but it is income. I immediately send every paycheck to student loans, CC debt, and court fines. Before the end of 2025, everything is paid off. From then on, I save every last dime I can.

Finally, after almost 8 months of saving, I am buying a house at 25. No more landlords. No more worrying about being kicked out from house and home. No more fear of wondering if I'll need to move at a moment's notice.

I can't believe it. I don't think it'll feel real until I have the keys in hand and I'm laying on the floor, but for the first times in years, I feel like I'll be able to breathe again.

I am eternally grateful for those who supported me in my darkest days. I didn't do it alone, by any means. It would have never happened either if I decided to give up. I'm finally moving forward with my life and taking back control. After hitting rock bottom, the only way from here is up.

"Give it to God"

Fucking ENOUGH of that bullshit.

I am by no means a non-religious person. I have sought scripture and learned a lot from some of the worst moments of my life, but my eyes roooooooooooll to the back of my head whenever someone tells me that "Oh, if X didn't happen then it's because God didn't want that for you."

Like what?!?! Ok so God didn't want me to get a job? God didn't want me to buy a house? God didn't want me to be financially stable?

I know people find comfort in that worldview because it makes them carefree. Nothing stresses them because they can just toss it aside and say "Well, God didn't allow it to protect me."

And then these same people have the gall, the audacity to tell me, someone who has little to no assurance and stability in life, that I'm a bad person for wanting control of my life? That only God has control of my life? Like okay, I pray and respect the man above, but the bills will not be paid, the house will not be cleaned, and the job opportunity will not manifest if I don't put in the fucking effort to get there

I'm just... exhausted.
