Possibly dumb question, but how's the 12" in 2026? Is it the right device for my use case?

Between a gift card I've been sitting on, and trading in my old SQ1, I can get the 512gb 16gb 12-inch (just the device) for $600 out of pocket (I'll get the keyboard later). This is the cheapest I've seen it for a while, especially since the recent price increase.

Use case:

-Lots of web browsing, zoom, youtube, netflix etc. Maybe discord.

-Lots of reading and marking up pdfs with the pen, specifically sheet music; orchestral scores I'll be conducting from, lead sheets, and so on.

-Microsoft Office apps, almost entirely word and excel.

-Maybe magic the gathering arena if it runs okay.

-Has to last several years, ideally 8+. I'm very careful with my electronics, physically at least.

That's it. No heavy animating, no heavy gaming. It'll be my secondary device for teaching and rehearsals, and I've got my nice desktop at home. My all-time most important thing in phones and computers is that it has to be super snappy, I can't stand lag. I'm aware of the restrictions that come with ARM computers since I've had my SQ1, but that one in particular always felt slow to me, even using native apps. I wonder if that's just my fault for buying an 8gb RAM device in the 2020's.

Does it seem like this is the right device for my use case? Is 16gb enough for the device to feel snappy, responsive, and smooth for years to come? Does the original slim pen charge correctly on the back of this device or would I have to upgrade to the slim pen 2? Is there a reason you WOULDN'T recommend this device?

Thanks in advance everyone :)

Anyone who has a 100% retro frame deck, I'd love to see the list!

Title. I love building decks with color pie breaks, weird mechanics, popular commanders built in weird ways, and especially weird deck restrictions! I've always loved the old-border frame and I get excited whenever they use it in a set, even if it's a reprint.

For anyone who has a deck that's 100% old-border (or 100% white-border!), what's your deck? Or if you don't, what would you want to build? Here's the list of possible commanders: https://scryfall.com/search?q=%28game%3Apaper%29+%28is%3Acommander+is%3Aold%29+prefer%3Abest

Looking to replace my moto one 5g ace, what would you guys suggest?

I really don't want to replace it, this has been my favorite phone so far! But, my sim keeps randomly disconnecting. T-Mobile thinks it could just be that the sim port is failing since I've had the phone for 5 years. I've seriously loved this phone it's lasted longer than anything I've had previously and it still runs great. If it weren't for the sim connectivity issues I would absolutely not be replacing it yet. I definitely want to stick to motorola.

-Top priority is for it to run buttery smooth and fast. My least favorite thing in any technology is when something constantly stutters, buffers, freezes, etc. This one has 6gb of RAM so I'm guessing at least that much?

-3.5mm headphone jack required, and preferably good volume on the speakers.

-As good as or better battery life. I love that this gives me a full day, sometimes a day and a half if I'm not overusing it.

-128gb+ storage and/or SD card slot, USB-C charging, and NFC.

-Will last me another 3 years or more.

-Ideally staying below $400, my current phone was $300 and at the time was the most I'd spent on a phone. Well worth it.

-I really love the motion features on this phone (karate chop and twist to turn on flashlight and camera respectively) and would like to keep that or something similar.

-I don't need real heavy gaming, maybe Magic Arena if anything but it's not a priority.

-I don't care about the fingerprint scanner, and I don't care about wireless charging. I despise ai, not sure if that's a thing in phones yet.

Thank you guys in advance for the suggestions!

Hoping for suggestions replacing moto one 5g ace please!

I really don't want to, this has been my favorite phone so far! But, my sim keeps randomly disconnecting. T-Mobile thinks it could just be that the sim port is failing since I've had the phone for 5 years. In any case, you guys gave such a fantastic recommendation for it last time so I wanted to come here again. I've seriously loved this phone it's lasted longer than anything I've had previously and it still runs great. If it weren't for the sim connectivity issues I would absolutely not be replacing it yet.

This is what I'm looking for in a new phone;

-I really love the motion features on this phone (karate chop and twist to turn on flashlight and camera respectively) and would like to keep that or something similar. I'm assuming this means sticking to motorola? If so, that's perfectly fine.

-I don't need real heavy gaming, maybe Magic Arena if anything but it's not a priority.

-I don't care about the fingerprint scanner, and I don't care about wireless charging. I despise ai, not sure if that's a thing in phones yet.

Trying to get a few deck ideas for an upcoming commander event in my area.

So this event sounds like a terrible idea, but I honestly want to try it just to see exactly how bad it can get. The ONLY RULE for the event is that you can't run any game changers. No specified bracket, no mention of MLD, stax, expected turn count, or chaining extra turns, just that you can't use any game changers. Normal commander banlist still applies.

So hit me with your sweatiest, most b*tchless degenerate decks possible. The prize support is genuinely good, so I fully expect this to end in table flipping. I wanna lock the game down or win outright on turn 3 if that's even possible without fast mana.

Potentially replacing my moto one 5g ace (I really don't want to)

Thoroughly disappointed, my sim keeps randomly disconnecting. T-Mobile thinks it could just be that the sim port is failing since I've had the phone for 5 years. IF I decide to go through with replacing/upgrading, this is what I'm looking for in a new phone;

-Top priority is for it to run buttery smooth and fast. My least favorite thing in any technology is when something constantly stutters, buffers, freezes, etc. This one has 6gb of RAM so I'm guessing at least that much.
