What are some bands where you prefer the demos over the studio albums
For me I’d say immolation and suffocation for their early demos

A lot of underground bands stay underground because they're not actually that good
A lot of underground metal bands aren't overlooked geniuses. They're underground because they're bad songwriters. The metal community loves the idea that popularity automatically means compromise and obscurity automatically means quality, but most of the time a band is obscure because they haven't written songs people actually want to listen to.
