Advice on a deck?

Hello,

how do people get 90% in this game that is literally coded to counter you perfectly?

Is it because they spent money and the games becomes more lenient or are there really some incredible unit combos? I didn't spend a single cent.

No matter what I build, the game just punishes me in a match. Sometimes it doesn't even make sense, like lower level having 15/15 leveled cards. You are literally leveled as you level your cards, so he shouldn't be lower level than me AND have such high cards.

The game also punishes you for experimenting as you have to level Mastery of your cards, but only way to do that is to use them over and over, which usually results in losing over and over.

Anyway, I am providing screenshots of what I have. Would love to hear your advice.

Snapmaker U1 Top Cover: The beta test blog post is a victory lap, not a fix list!

A Snapmaker team member ( u/Cute-Letterhead8806 ) replied directly in this thread. I asked which of the four issues are actively being reworked versus considered resolved as shipped. Their response and my follow-up are in the screenshot below.

Two things worth noting.

First: "a broader range of optimizations" with no specifics and no timeline is unverifiable. The four issues documented below were not addressed by name. I'll update this post if and when those details arrive.

Second: the claim that "overall feedback from beta testers was positive" can be checked against their own blog post, which is still live. That same document quotes testers reporting heavy ABS odor, VOC leakage through frame gaps, and XY driver temperatures described as "higher than expected." The data is there. Draw your own conclusions.

The Post

Snapmaker published their U1 Top Cover beta test recap: Snapmaker U1 Top Cover User Test – Feedback & Next Steps

I pre-ordered the top cover. I went in wanting to be reassured. I came out the other side genuinely concerned.

Let me start with the good, because it's real: HEPA12 + carbon recirculation filtration works**.** Noise reduction was largely achieved (49 - 53 dB down from 55 - 62 dB). High-temp materials like ABS and ASA are now viable with a proper chamber. The beta testers did rigorous, honest work and their data holds up. The product has genuine value.

The problem is what Snapmaker did, or rather DIDN'T DO with that data.

Issue 1: Exhaust fan has no filter. The "fix" is a hole.

A beta tester reported directly:

>"The exhaust fan should have a filter as well. At stock filtration and exhaust fan settings, the room smelled heavily."

Snapmaker's response, marked "Done" and provided puzzling image:

>"Add a φ10 circular hole on the top cover to provide a non-destructive installation option for users who may need to add a 90–100mm exhaust hose adapter in the future."

To be precise: they didn't add a filter. They didn't design a housing for one. They added a preparatory hole for an accessory that doesn't yet exist and left the rest to us.

This is the core design flaw of the whole product. The recirculation filter only cleans air cycling through its own loop. The exhaust fan pumps unfiltered chamber air (full of ABS/ASA VOCs and particulates) straight into your room. These are two separate airflows. No amount of recirculation filtration fixes what the exhaust vents directly.

One community member with relevant technical background noted: the majority of beta testers measured filtration performance using PM2.5 sensors and smell, neither of which can detect styrene vapour, which occurs at particle sizes down to 0.02 microns. PM2.5 sensors only measure down to 0.3 microns. Only one tester measured nanoparticle values, and those went above safe levels. Calling this "odor control" misframes the actual health risk entirely.

Calling this "Done" while marketing built-in filtration as a key feature is misleading. It's worth noting that independent community members who attempted to build external filtration solutions for the U1 specifically abandoned the effort because the printer's own frame has too many gaps to make enclosure filtration viable, which makes a leaking exhaust on top of that even more concerning, not less (https://x.com/thrutheframe/status/2054793781141250467).

Issue 2: XY driver overheating. The "fix" is a wiki page.

Beta testers measured and flagged elevated XY driver temperatures. Real thermal data, real concern about long-term hardware health.

Snapmaker's response, marked "Done":

They published a document explaining their own spec tolerances. That is communication, not a fix. No firmware change, no active cooling, no hardware revision. "We wrote down that it's supposed to be fine" is marked as a resolved improvement.

The wiki itself claims: "the chip can operate for approximately 6–16 years at 110°C." The TMC2240 datasheet contains no lifetime data at any temperature, this figure appears nowhere in Analog Devices documentation. What the datasheet does state (p.65) : the ADC measures chip average temperature "while the driver stages may be at a much higher temperature." The chip's ambient operating range tops out at 125°C. A chip whose own die averages 110°C, with driver stage hotspots above that, and no active cooling, is not a resolved concern. It's an unsourced reassurance.

Even the community member who was most willing to defend the top cover in the Discord discussion admitted: "I'm more concerned about the drivers temp issues than anything else about this cover." If the product's own defenders are flagging it, it hasn't been resolved.

Issue 3: PTFE tubes collide with fan housings. The "fix" is DIY.

Testers documented PTFE tubes hitting fan housings and the cover itself during print moves, which is a clearance problem in the physical design.

Snapmaker's fix, marked "Done":

This is not a fix. It's a workaround outsourced to the customer. The reason many people pay $150 - $249 for an official accessory instead of building their own is precisely to avoid this kind of work. As one person put it in the community discussion: "I specifically did not want to make my own despite being capable." That's the whole value proposition of a first-party product and it's being handed back to us as a print file.

Issue 4: Exhaust vent gas leakage. Explicitly decided not to fix it.

The blog documents two sealing deficiencies. On the exhaust vent:

>"Top Cover Exhaust Vent Leakage: We evaluated an enhanced damper seal design... Testing showed only marginal sealing improvement while noticeably increasing exhaust fan noise... We have decided not to adopt this damper enhancement for the current version."

Status label in the post: "Keep."

They acknowledged the leak. They tested a solution. They decided the tradeoff wasn't worth it. Fine engineering involves tradeoffs. What isn't fine is labeling a known, unfixed leak as a resolved item with a "Keep" status and moving on.

What I'm not saying

Some fixes in the post are real: foam seal thickness adjusted to 2 mm, magnet adhesive process improved, fan speed granularity changed from 25% to 10% steps. Those are actual changes. Credit where it's due.

I'm also not saying the top cover is worthless or that Snapmaker is acting in bad faith. This comparison from the beta test itself is worth noting: testers who compared the official cover against DIY builds found the official cover wins clearly on filtration, active cooling for non-engineering materials, and noise. It's not nothing.

What I am saying: a beta test program that asks real users to find real problems and then resolves those problems with documentation, a preparatory hole, and a print file is not a beta test. It's a PR exercise. The testers' work deserved a better answer. Buyers about to spend $150 - $249 deserve to know what they're actually getting.

This isn't rage. This is the feedback loop Snapmaker built. Let's use it before the product ships, not after. One question worth asking publicly: were the top covers already in production before the beta test results came in?
Because if they were, structural fixes were never on the table and that would reframe the entire beta program as something very different from what it was presented as.

One more thing: the "just DIY it" response misses the entire point. DIY enclosure solutions for the U1 exist... IKEA SAMLA bins (or alternatives), printed covers, custom builds, starting at around $7 and going up to ~$30 fully modded. People who buy the official top cover at $150 pre-order / $249 retail are paying that premium specifically because they want a finished, engineered, first-party solution that works out of the box. Not because they're incapable of building their own. The value proposition of a first-party product is that you don't have to. When the official product ships with unfiltered exhaust, clearance workarounds as print files, and a known unfixed leak and the answer is "mod it yourself", that premium evaporates. You're paying $150 - 249 to do your own R&D on Snapmaker's behalf.

  1. Email Snapmaker at support@snapmaker.com - Snapmaker staff specifically pointed to this channel in the official Discord. Be specific, be civil, quote the blog sections directly. Volume matters.
  2. Comment on the post itself so feedback is visible to the team and anyone reading the post.
  3. Upvote and share so this reaches people who haven't read the feedback blog yet, especially those who pre-ordered and are waiting.

The product launched with a community. Hold it to that standard.
