Interactive Map of Run Clubs

I was having trouble finding run clubs around me, so my friend and I made an interactive map to chart them all!

The project began as less interactive map we built while we both lived in San Francisco. My friend moved to LA and we spruced it up and expanded it to include LA + Inland Empire.

We manually curated the list of clubs, but we automatically pull club avatars and recent pics from IG to bring color to club descriptions. We also add some sample routes from clubs we’ve run with in the past to give an idea of the types of runs and how fast a club typically runs.

The discovery map is also integrated into some tooling we've been working on to help better manage our own group runs. Club organizers we’ve spoken to have complained that there isn’t a good way to schedule multiple routes for a single meetup. There's native support for this and we included a way to set a pace for each route. During the meetup, club members have the option to share their live location with the group (using our "Twitch for runners" tool), so if you are running late, you can catch up with everyone else.

Claude now creates my running routes and uploads them to Garmin.

My friend already built a nice route builder, so I hooked up our MCP to it to let Claude create routes. You can watch it work in realtime, and also make manual adjustments / tweaks. Where I live in San Francisco, it's super hilly, and it's already found flatter routes that I haven't been able to find for about a year (there are some surprisingly nice running streets in the Mission!). The MCP is also connected with Garmin, so I can send routes directly to my watch.

Strava releases their own MCP, then shuts our down.

Besides the obvious, it's just a little upsetting that they didn't release an MCP sooner. Had they done so, we would have never taken the time to build our own. It was loved by thousands of users, but sadly we may have to shut it down . . .

Has anyone been able to test the MCP?

I see they released the tool today, but it looks like it's not rolled out for a lot of users (myself include) yet. The only tool I see with the MCP connection is an eligibility check.
