Upgrade from Torium 16HG

I’ve been fishing for 2-3 years with this reel and I kind of want to upgrade. I want an extra reel too so in case I get snagged at sea, I have a spare setup that’s ready to go.

I’ve been looking at the Ocea Jigger 2000 F custom NRHG or LD or maybe even the OJ 2500.

I currently have two BONE rods, one 3-piece slow pitch jigging rod (which I used mainly with the Torium) and another BONE OTC6225F rod which is considered a fast jigging rod. I initially started with slow pitch jigging with the “slow” jigging rod paired with my Torium and it was fine for the most part but every once in a while I try to fast jig with that setup and I just couldn’t get the cadence right. I used the latter rod recently and it felt so nice to “fast jig” so I’m leaning more on buying a fast jigging style reel instead of a slow one.

With that said, what’s the best model of Ocea Jigger for that? I fish mainly 150 meters and above most times and want to do mostly fast jigging to hunt for pelagics. Is there even a model that I can comfortably alternate fast jig and slow jig that won’t heavily affect fishing productivity or is that too much to ask for?

Also maybe a more succinct question: which reel is more versatile i.e. is a fast jigging reel better at slow pitch compared to a slow jigging reel being better at mechanical jigging?

I’ve used ChatGPT but I know there’s a ton of nuance into this and it keeps saying a higher line retrieve is better for mechanical jigging but I heard from forums it’s the other way around.

Appreciate the help.

Can top chess players memorize bad chess moves and games (by scrubs)?

Was watching a video of Magnus trying to guess the accuracy of some 1600s game on Youtube. He seems to remember some dubious moves and some of the good moves as well. I know plenty of top GMs have incredible chess memory even to the point of memorizing entire famous games from their chess studies, but I am under the impression that they can remember these top GM games because all moves are “logical” at their level.

With that said, can they also remember the entirety of lengthy games played by scrubs? Like for sure some moves can be truly nonsensical and hard to follow and understand. Can they still remember those kind of games?

Discuss.

Had a few lessons as a child but I don't think I even stuck with tennis for more than 6 months.

Rekindled my passion for it recently this year and immediately bought a Blade 98 18x20 last January (4-5 months ago) and have been playing with it since. I heard reviews about this Blade model and that it really isn't the best beginner racket and that it's kinda punishing hence why I bought it because I want to push my game. I've had a ton of lessons this year, I'm mostly a flat hitter and with an eastern forehand (I was taught this grip as a child), but I can hit topspin if I actually try. Now I know this is a control racket, I can hit deep with it while swinging freely but once I try to actually try to swing faster my balls mostly go to the moon.

I know its mostly a technique issue but will a power-oriented racket benefit me? I'm under the impression that if I start using a racket with more power where I'm forced to "hold back" my swing I'd be forced to do the right motions for better topspin whilst swinging freely to keep the ball in-play. If so, what racket would you guys recommend?

Sorry if this is the wrong sub lol.

I’m planning a trip to Bali in a few weeks. I currently have two Bone travel rods, one is for slow pitch jigging (it literally says travel “slow” jigging) paired with a Torium 16HG and the other one is my popping/casting setup (max 90g lure) paired with a spinning Spheros SW 6000PG. My fishing charter captain told me he plans to bring me night jigging mainly hunting for dogtooth tuna.

I know tunas are pelagic and they’re mainly attracted to fast jigs/prey and I’m looking for travel rod suggestions to use with my Spheros reel. I’ve always been intrigued by fast jigging and want to have my own setup. I tried fast jigging with my slow pitch jigging setup and it sucked: cadence was weird, rod tip was all over the place.

Also an aside, which method is more productive for you guys, fast or slow pitch jigging?
