Why does my silk taffeta have white spots?

Hi all! I’m unable to post a picture, but I was going through my fabric stash and found out that my black silk taffeta from Silk Baron has developed some strange white dots that seem to be in between the fibers. Rubbing at them with my fingers seems to smear some of the white dots, but doesn’t eradicate them completely. I’ve never washed the fabric—I just put it right into a storage bin upon receipt (which was about 3 years ago, and I haven’t really touched it since then). The fabric does not have a smell.
Does anyone know what might be causing these white spots or what they are?

Handing out free (handmade) dog plushies on Aug 1!

Hi everyone! As part of my Cruella de Miku crossover cosplay, I decided to make 101 stuffed dogs from fabric scraps and hand them out while dressed like her! I’ll be in the pictured cosplay on Saturday, August 1 so if you find me, feel free to ask for a plushie :)

I’ll be posting better photos of each of the dogs throughout the month on FB & IG, along with pretend names and blurbs and the source of the fabric if I remember it, just for funsies!

Making a bunny suit for an apple shape

Hello everyone! I am helping my friend make a bunny suit for Dragon Con and a pattern from KatieCosplays on Etsy was the most recommended. I've attached a screenshot of the size chart below.

My friend's shape grades from an XL at the bust & hip to a 3X at the waist. I've never graded a pattern between sizes before and for something as close-fitting as a bunny suit, I'm nervous. I've also never made clothes for anyone other than myself, I don't have a mannequin of these proportions, and I'll only have limited access to her for mockup tryons before the convention.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to grade a pattern in a situation like this? Is there a better bunny suit pattern on the market for non-hourglass shaped bodies? Is it going to be easier than I'm expecting and I'm just overthinking the process?

Thank you for any assistance you can provide!

My handmade Withered Rose Elise from LoL

Behold my fully handmade Withered Rose Elise cosplay from MagFest 2026! This is my second handmade cosplay ever :D

I really wanted to learn how to make props and I could not find a tutorial for Elise's spider legs, so I thought it would be fun to design them myself! And as a bonus, I'd been wanting to work with LEDs so I added those in as well.

Photo 7: the reference pic, since I wager this cosplay may be a bit obscure

Feedback requested for Cruella costume makeup look!

Hello all! I'm trying to pin down a look for a new Cruella x Hatsune Miku themed costume (see last picture for the semi-final costume) but I'm not satisfied with the makeup look I've come up with here. I was aiming for a mix between sexy villainess (Cruella, obviously) and idol/doll eye (Miku), but I think once the wig goes on it just looks far too cutesy since the bangs hide the severe cateye. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might to do to improve this look? Is my lipstick color & shape sufficient? Do I need more makeup on my lower lash line? Do I add more blush?!

Extreme ideas are welcome, since this is a costume and I LOVE a good heavy makeup look in a costume! Thanks in advance y'all~ <3

Product list:

Foundation: NARS Light Reflecting Foundation in Mont Blanc

Setting spray: Skindinavia Bridal Setting Spray

On eyes: NYX Pro Fix Stick in Yellow, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Affogato, Violet Voss Flamingo palette (Sunnies color, which is pure black), NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Intense Black, Dejavu Lasting-fine eyeliner, NYX Epic Wear Liquid Liner in White, The City Mini Palette from Maybelline (used the white shadow), Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara

Highlighter: Twoedit contouring highlighter multi stick in 01, Anastasia Amrezy highlighter, Chanel Baume Essential in Sculpting

Blush: NARS orgasm

Eyelashes: Glamnetic in Billionaire

Contour: NYX Wonder Stick in Universal Light, Judydoll Highlight&Contour #01

On lips: Rom&nd Juicy Lasting Tint in 12 (?), KVD Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick in Painted Tongue, Sephora Rouge Gel Lip Liner in The Red

And the contacts I'm wearing are from Pinky Paradise; they're the Princess Pinky Candycore Pistachio Green!

P.S. Sorry for not actually wearing the costume in the pictures--I'm still working on some of the pieces so putting it on risks stabbing myself with pins (or worse, knocking the pins onto the floor and finding them later with my feet!).
