NQD - Betashares NASDAQ 100 ETF. Wait for SpaceX or shoot now?

*Edit: NDQ not NQD :-D

Because of the new rule changes, SpaceX gets included into the NASDAQ 100 on July the 7th. I have a bit of cash to invest and I was holding off under the notion that SpaceX's IPO might trigger a resonance cascade and bring the whole Ai bubble down.

But as they say, the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent.

Apparently the inclusion into the index is not going to cause much of a change in the index itself but will have more of an effect on SpaceX. Because of weighting SpaceX is only going to be about 1% of the index.

What would you do?

Toronto exchange ETFs ranked by 5y returns

Hi. I'm an Aussie but I thought you guys might find this helpful. I've got a list of ETFs on the Toronto exchange and I've ranked them by 5 year (annualised) return. This is definitely in Beta and there may be errors or missing ETFs. This is NOT Ai, this is exported from my app using a paid data source.

All returns include dividends because I'm using the adjusted_close price.

I've had some pushback in the past about some returns being missing or wrong. In this iteration I've improved the returns by calculating them myself from price data instead of relying on my provider.

Hope some of you find it useful, and please point out any errors you see.

okay, so what was wrong last time? Last time I was getting the returns from my provider. This time I'm calculating the returns from first principals. u/Itchy_Journalist_175 pointed out that I can calculate what I need from the price data (of course you can, I'm an idiot).

I've checked a few against the reported results from the ETF manager reports directly, and they're basically bang on. The results can be a fraction of a percent off, because it depends on exactly when they grabbed the price. From what I can gather returns are updated at least monthly and the end of month closing price is used.

I welcome the finding of errors!

Within the app you can click on any of the ETFs and zoom in for more details.

Is there any the info you'd like to see?

UPDATE: as some of you have pointed out there are problems with some of the values. The provider I'm using eodhd.com has some flaky data. Some values are flat out wrong and some popular ETFs are not shown because EOD is not providing return data (and therefore they get filtered out). I have contacted their support and hope they have a reasonable response (I pay a lot for the data).

If anyone has any recommendations for other sources, I'd be happy to hear it. I've also checked out twelvedata but they don't provide nearly enough information on the ETFs to be useful.

Kingston resources paying down debt - microcap with potential?

I bought into KSN in 2023 as a gamble on a microcap. It had some potential and I had some money from dividends I wanted to spend.

They released a report in March that they sold an asset in PNG and have had a big (for them) inflow of cash, and they'll now concentrate on their one producing asset in Mineral Hill in NSW.

You can see their cash is up and total liabilities are down

Anyone else hold a position?

Historical dividend yields for BHP

Does anyone have the historical dividend yields for BHP? I want to check my results.

I'm working out the BHP dividend yields historically, but the financial data is listed in USD (from my provider), but the price data is in AUD (from the ASX). So I'm using FOREX to convert from AUD to USD for each day, to then give an accurate dividend yield.

I want to check my results.

From what I can tell this a solid business making good and reliable income, and pays out that income in dividends.

they provide

  • salary packaging
  • novated car leasing
  • fleet management
  • NDIS stuff

Looks like they're not a growing business, but their income is reliable and they just pay it all out as dividends.

You can see in the chart below their dividend payout has been ~7%-10% since 2008 (green). Their net income has been fairly reliable (purple)

chart

I don't think it's for me, because I prefer growth over dividends, I'm earning a decent income and dividends means I lose to the tax man. Thought it might suit those nearing retirement

Looking at the price chart they were up around $130 but have tumbled to ~80c. That seems due to huge share dilution. However they're now starting to make revenue and Profit since 2020 (even through COVID)

Revenue is in light orange and profit is in gray

Looked up some reviews and they all seem pretty positive for the business itself. Catering to international students with courses focused on real jobs

Tell me why I shouldn't buy this.
