How long did it take for you to enjoy your hobbies again?

Hi all,

I uninstalled Instagram and TikTok about 2 weeks ago, as short-form content was rotting my attention span. But I've found I'm still wasting hours, just now on Reddit, and although it's probably not as bad as mindlessly scrolling reels, I intend to enjoy my hobbies again.

I used to read 50+ books a year; now I can't read more than a few pages without needing a break. I used to paint and draw, but now those hobbies feel daunting, as much as I want to do them.

I have tried in the past setting my phone to greyscale and having time locks, but neither of those worked.

For those who cut back on social media successfully, how long did it take to get your attention span back and start being able to focus on your hobbies?

Ideas for making Veronaville more fun in a Megahood

Hey all,

I've recently gotten back into The Sims 2 after not playing it for 20 years. I'm playing rotationally in a megahood with the 3 main towns. But every time it's Veronaville's rotation, the game drags for me, and I just want to get back to Pleasantview and Strangetown.

With ST and PV, both those towns are intertwined because of the alien abductions/ Bella Goth mystery, and VV feels so closed off and singular. I also don't know much about Shakespeare, which I think doesn't help to make me feel connected to the townies.

Does anyone have any advice for making it more fun? Especially ideas on incorporating the other neighbourhoods.

Finally finished the whole series!

This was my first time watching the show and I loved it overall, but Tom is the worst husband and Lynette was my favourite to begin with, but by season 5 I’d assume her character would start to have growth, but she’s completely the same which makes me dislike her by the end.

I had the opposite with Bree and hated her at the start, but by the end she was my favourite housewife.

Hated Susan from start to finish, I also didn’t like that on the finale episode the other wives got a quick 30 second update on what happened to them. But Susan had full, multiple scene explanation.

Gabby was in the middle for me the entire time, sometimes she was great, other times, not so much.

So I’d love to know some other shows I should watch that are similar. I watched pretty little liars while it aired and I know that show was inspired by DH, but is there anything else out there?

Is it a gut feeling or just anxiety from the past?

Hey everyone,

I was burnt deeply at my previous job and was made redundant. After that, I unfortunately accepted a job from a complete narcissist who lied during the entire interview, and it wasn't until I started working there that I learnt every employee quits and no one lasts more than 3 months.

I also quit due to the toxic nature of that job and returned to study to upskill. But I still keep an eye out for jobs being advertised and apply to ones I think I'll genuinely enjoy. Fast forward to now, a job got back to me, but the excitement has turned to total dread, and I'm unsure if it's a gut warning or if it's anxiety from the past?

My previous job, the boss lied about everything I asked in the interview. I asked if WFH was permitted, and he said yes in the interview, but once I started, it wasn't allowed; he lied about multiple of my interview questions. So I'm also scared I could check to make sure we're aligned and be lied to again and end up back at square one.

Also, any advice on how to sort out my own internal conflict? I've been battling because if I do get a job offer, I'll have to drop out of study as it's full-time.

If you were in my shoes, what would you ask in an interview to work out if the new place would be toxic? And are there any ways I can tell if the interviewer is lying?

How to dress edgy with a romantic body type

Hey all,

I have been looking up tips for romantic body types, but they all emphasize dressing with bows and being overly girly. I'm in my 30s, so I don't want to wear frilly dresses. I also lean into more alternative styles and darker looks, but I feel like they don't suit me. How can I dress for my body type while still maintaining personal style?

Advice for testing

Hey everyone,

I've been designing a board game, and I'm finally at the point where I'd like to test it before moving on to art and final design.

But there are no board game testing meetups where I live, and I generally don't know how to go about it. I've seen people mention Tabletop Simulator, but how do I find people to test it with?
