Any guesses?

Assuming that engine belongs to it, appears to be a four cylinder flathead. Struggling to identify it otherwise. The dash makes me think at least American, leaning towards GM. The remainder of the roof makes me think some sort of wagon. Struggling to find any four banger flathead Chevy wagons, nor Ford. What say you?

More time on the Scab this week. Had to patch the wheel tub before final welding the inner and outer rockers. Done with this side for now.

Little more time on the Scab this week. Rough fitting new pieces. Small patches to get closer to final welding some stuff.

Spent some time on the Single Cab today.

Testing fitting a lot of the panels ahead of patch welding and final welding some things. Everything is a much bigger pain in the ass than I thought it would be.

Was finally able to order sheet metal for the Scab. More coming on Tuesday. Not enough to finish, but it’s a start.

Thanks Rockauto.

The intake gasket for my ‘84 Accord arrived today. I’ve never had to pour a gasket out of a box before.

1984 Accord - Sorting issues

Hello all! I recently acquired this ‘84 Accord as a non-running abandoned project and could use some guidance. I’m no stranger to cars but am less than acquainted with this era Honda. It’s got some issues and I could use some guidance.

So it’s an ‘84 with the 1.8L and some sort of automagical, I believe it’s the four speed. The previous owner, who was a literal child, had bought the car with a blown motor and had swapped in another 1.8L from another ‘84 Accord himself. It’s been a long game of “what did they miss?” so far.

Supposedly he’d gotten it running but said “the factory carb had a stuck float or something and it was gushing fuel. I bought a Weber for it.” Well he never really installed it so much as just kind of sat it down on the intake. I installed the carb and deleted the vast majority of vacuum spaghetti. I was able to get it running, albeit, it runs like shit; I’m still tracing vacuum leaks. This brings me to my first issue…

The distributor appears to be a dual vacuum diaphragm that I assume (like the older aircooled VWs that I’m accustomed to) one side retards, the other side advances the timing. If I want to use this diaphragm, where do I pull vacuum from for the retard side? I currently have the advance side hooked up to the only available vacuum port on the carb. Is this possible or should I consider getting a single vacuum diaphragm or a different distributor entirely?

The next biggest issue is that it won’t not go into park, which I hear is a common problem. The PO had someone else replace the shift cable, they apparently lost a mounting bracket that bolts the cable to the transmission and this is supposedly why it won’t go into park? I disconnected the cable from the shifter and pushed it in as far as I could, and it still would not go into park. I couldn’t seem to really do anything underneath the car either. The shifter itself will go into park, but the transmission will not. Appears to go in and out of all the other gears fine.

These are my biggest issues so far. Any thoughts or contributions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
/T. ✌🏻
