Any analogs for a conical burr grinder, like the Shardor is to 64mm flat burr grinders?

Hi-

I have been looking to get into grinding my own coffee for a while now. My use cases are primarily filter (drip, pour over) and French press. I tend to like darker roasts and full body. From what I have read and watched on YouTube I'd likely benefit from a conical burr vs a flat burr.

However, the Shardor 64mm flat burr grinders and similar seem to have created a great, high-value, "hackable" segment that has great bang-for-your-buck.

Since I am more into filter coffees the videos seem to imply I'd benefit from different burrs if I got a Shardor. Alternatively I could just get a Baratza with a conical burr. Since I want on-demand for a full pot (hopper and timer), the price point for a Bartaza with a timer is $250+. That is a lot more than hacking a Shardor.

Has anyone found a conical burr grinder with the same high-value that Shardor has with their 64mm flat burr grinders?

Note, the OXO is attractive, but I consider it off the list because of its inconsistency in particle distribution. I am looking for Baratza grind quality. While it's true that I might not know the difference, I'd rather take my time and make the right choice up front. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks in advance.

Issue with BE65 Pro US/1.6 and Firmware 1.3.1- with (temp) fix. Anyone Else?

Hi-

My Deco BE65 Pro updated itself to Firmware 1.3.1 Build 26042912 Rel 23561 and I woke to poor to no internet. Speed Test via the Decco app failed to report any speeds. If I did a Speed Test on my PC I got a warning from Malwarebytes that the webiste was unsafe.

The fix (so far) was to turn off UPnP and SIP ALG to off. Both are under More->Advanced-> NAT forwarding.

My 2 satellites were on wired backhaul, with one of them coming out of the main unit and the other hitting an unmanaged switch before it backhauled. As part of debugging I first disconnected the wired backhaul. I have since reconnected the directly wired backhaul. I am going to give it some time and then reconnect the one that goes through a switch.

FWIW, other debugging included the typical rebooting of modem (xfinity 2gig) and router/sats, and also confirming internet speed at the modem.

I hope this helps others that might have run into a similar situation. Does anyone know what I am potentially missing out on with the UPnP and SIP ALG being off?

Can someone from TPLink look into this? I am on auto-update and this took 2 hours out of my morning, let alone impacted my spouse being able to WFH.

High(er) Rise Handlebars? Hype? Trend? Experiences?

Hi-

I am looking for some thoughts around high or higher rise handlebars. According to a JKW video high rise starts at around 25mm, however, my current bike ('22 Stumpjumper) already has a 30mm rise, so I am asking for feedback on those that have gone taller.

For reference, along with the stock bars I am using a 40mm stem, down from the stock 50mm stem, which I like. I am happy with my ergon grips. The stock bars have an 8 degree sweep and are cut down to 760-ish.

I am sometimes wondering about a little bit more sweep. That basically puts the PNW Loam or Range at the top of the list, and they are on sale at many places. Those bars come with a rise of 38 and 50mm. I have some room on my steerer tube, so part of me says to get the 50mm rise and if I don't like it I can drop it down a notch. I am also assuming I can tweak the slight change in reach with bar roll.

Going back to the main question, for those of you that have made the change, how did it change your riding? Did it open up a skill you were on the cusp of developing? Did it make the bike more fun? Twitchy?

Thanks for the thoughts!
