Update: Crop Art(emis) II is now on display at the Minneapolis Institute of Art!

Mine was one of 31 crop art pieces from the Minnesota State Fair chosen for this year’s Cream of the Crop exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

The Artemis II mission and lunar flyby was a much needed period of light during a dark and terrifying winter in the Twin Cities. I hope the astronauts know the positive effect they had on so many people on this planet, and I hope someday they see my tribute to them.

Cream of the Crop: Second Harvest is open now through 11/29. Admission to Mia is free for all visitors.

The same woman was the first one to take pictures of my crop art two years in a row. Do you know her?!

It’s a crop art tradition to try to get a picture of someone taking a picture of your piece. Last year and this year I took a picture of the first person I saw doing that. I was looking through pictures from last year and noticed something a bit odd…

Does anyone know her?

I would love to thank her for apparently being my biggest fan and ask her how long she’s been rocking that outfit on opening day of the State Fair!

Crop Art(emis) II: Seeds of Tranquility

This is my crop art piece based on Craters of Time, a photo taken by the Artemis II crew during the Lunar Flyby. It recieved the 3rd Place for Class 1 - Natural Colors, Amateur, which is the most-entered class. This year there were 128 pieces in that class.

The sky is black lentils and the moon is made of 90,000 grains of quinoa stacked in 8 layers to show the varying depth of craters ok the moon’s surface. I’m the first person to use layers to achieve a sculptural effect in a crop art piece. It took me hundreds of hours over 3.5 months.

This is my second year entering, my second piece, and my second ribbon. Knowing that many people would handle the resistance art far better than I could, I chose to a subject that would bring me joy as I worked. I’m very proud of it and am happy it has resonated with so many people.

Crop Art(emis) II: Seeds of Tranquility, based on “Craters of Time” photo

I made this crop art piece for the Minnesota State Fair. It took me hundreds of hours over 3.5 months. In a year plagued by darkness and fear, the Artemis mission brought was a beacon of joy and hope. As soon as I saw the photos from the flyby, I knew I had to make it the focus of my entry this year. I am so happy with how it turned out and cried when I saw my third place ribbon.

It’s on display at the MN State Fair now through Labor Day!

Finally broke 50 miles!

It took me about four years to get to this point and I’m so proud of myself for finally doing it! Everything hurts, but it was worth it. Next up: my first metric century! Definitely need to build up a bit more strength first, but hoping to get that in before the end of September.

Nick Frentz, MN Senate Assistant Majority Leader, physically blocked a microphone in an attempt to prevent additional governor nominations at the 2026 DFL State Convention

Multiple people wearing Amy Klobuchar for Governor tshirts crowded around each of the microphones at the DFL State Convention on Friday night.

I was ready to nominate a different candidate, so I lined up behind a group of them. Many of us were curious why they were at all of the mics, and attributed it to people hoping to be the one to nominate Klobuchar.

After her name was accepted into nomination, I tried to move to the front of the line at mic 3, but was physically prevented from doing so by Sen. Nick Frentz, who was standing so close to the mic that no would could get to it. Two more men stood side by side close behind him.

The people at the mics stated variations of “I defer” when called on by the convention chair and ignored the in increasing shouts of “Point of order” from delegates around the convention hall as we started to realize what was happening.

I informed Senator Frentz I was trying to make a nomination and he replied with something like, “I’m going to make a motion. I deferred. I do not have to leave the mic.”

After multiple rounds of deferrals from each mic and multiple rule-breaking nominations for Amy Klobuchar, the next time the chair called on mic 3 I finally grabbed the microphone and pulled it away from Senator Frentz so I could submit my candidate for nomination.

This was just one of multiple ways that the DFL Rules Committee, convention organizers, tellers, and Amy Klobuchar supporters attempted to force an uncontested nomination in a race that was publicly known to be contested.

I am calling on Nick Frentz, Amy Klobuchar, Ben Schierer, and everyone else involved in this incredibly transparent and disgusting attempt to subvert a democratic process to apologize. Additionally, I am calling on DFL Chair Richard Carlbom and Convention Chair Ann Friedrich to acknowledge their complicity, apologize, and explain how they will prevent this from ever happening again.

Edited to correct the microphone number.

Until earlier today, her campaign website was literally just an email signup form and a donation form. But now, she’s finally revealed her priorities!

Amy Klobuchar’s Priorities as Governor of Minnesota

  1. Make government accountable
  2. Lower costs for Minnesotans
  3. Share your idea
