Help with these chairs?

Hi there, looking for some input and hopefully an ID on these chairs we have had in storage from my late great grandmother. Not exactly sure on their age but we have had the idea for some time that they are from the late 1800’s, but we could be way off. I only recently took them out of storage to use in our new place (hence the dent in the cushion). Additionally, I am debating on whether or not it is safe to use any sort of product on the wood, specifically Howard Feed-N-Wax, so any advice there is appreciated. I just don’t want to damage it if I am dealing with something that needs extra or specific care. Also I would like to clean the seats if at all possible, but considering the potential age on them, I figured I would consult the community on that point as well, though I do have a hunch that they may have been reupholstered at some point. Lastly, it looks like some of the varnish(?) has worn off on one of the crests and I’m not too sure if it would be safe to apply anything there either. Any sort of input helps!

If further photos would be useful, just let me know.

Landlord uses same locks and keys for basement space neighbor, and wants our basement door unlocked for emergencies [ID, USA]

My girlfriend and I recently moved into a house knowing that the landlord is renovating the downstairs area and that we will soon have a basement neighbor which we are fine with. The key to our front door also unlocks the door to the separated garage, and that made us realize that since the basement neighbor will have that key as well, they would also just have access to our door. On top of that, when meeting with a potential tenant for the basement, the landlord alluded to the point that a door to the basement that is inside our space should remain unlocked for fire safety. This makes us uncomfortable, especially for my girlfriend’s sake. The potential downstairs tenant didn’t seem weird or anything but this still feels like a privacy and security issue. Any advice?

Good source for genuine Kobra (EKP-1S-03M) ??

Thinking of getting a Kobra for a SAM7K build I’m putting together (with AKS-74U dust cover). Anyone know a good place to pick one up?

Red-Breasted Nuthatch up close

Trying to stand as still as possible. Definitely cautious about my presence, but comfortable enough to eat!

ISO: Lightweight, breathable, loose fitting hiking pants 👖

Pic I took of Grinnell Lake for your viewing pleasure

Hey guys! Going on a camping trip with several days of hiking in 80-90°F weather, and I want to get some new hiking pants. I’ve been wearing Columbia Silver Ridge convertible pants for a while and they’re great, but I want something with a little more room, as we tend to do some scrambling.

Just looking for some recommendations on or experiences with some looser fitting or even baggy hiking pants. My main requirements are that they are breathable, lightweight, and have room to move. UV protection and zip off legs are great too but not completely necessary for me.

Thanks!

Concern over new Contax lenses

Hi there, I recently bought a Contax G2 with a few lenses off ebay, and upon shining a bright flashlight through them, I have some concerns. I figured that before I consider touching this glass and potentially worsening anything (and losing my buyer protection) I would consult the community and see if someone wiser than I has some insight. I’m no expert so I could use the help, and with the value of this kit, any advice is appreciated and considered.

I’d like to preface this by noting the listing which said all lenses are free of fog, fungus, scratches, separation, and large dust particles.

If some different photos would prove useful, let me know. I know the pics aren’t the best but it’s what I could manage to show the imperfections.

Firstly, on the 28mm, I can see what appears to be some scratches or cleaning marks on the rear element which is obviously pretty alarming. There also seems to be something internally that I can’t identify (see pics).

Next, on the 45mm, I’m not exactly sure what I am seeing, but the pattern makes me concerned it’s fungus? Maybe a poorly cleaned element?

Lastly, on the 90mm, I can see what looks like a scratch on the front element. With its location, I don’t think it is too big of a concern, but still, it sucks to see this on a lens advertised as nearly flawless.

Just looking for some advice on what to do in this situation. Returning it would suck a little because of the massive import duty I had to pay. Either way, clearly didn’t get what was advertised which is really disappointing and it looks like I’m out of some money regardless.

Thanks for any insight.

Tests for new G2?

I just ordered a G2 kit with the 28, 45, and 90mm lenses. Considering it’ll be my first time handling one, and the electronic nature of this camera, I was wondering what function tests I should put it through, and what to keep an eye out for, once it arrives. I’d really like to make sure everything fully functional while I’m still in my return window. Any input or ideas will be appreciated!

This robin in my backyard has for started regularly eating from a few of my feeders which is a little unusual in itself, but it is also now just sitting nearby in a tree and chasing down any of the regular birds that come to eat and drink. I’m thinking of taking down the feeders that he can grab on to, but he is chasing them away even from another feeder tower he can’t even fit on. Also, if he is elsewhere, he will stop what he is doing to come chase birds down that are gathering in the area.

Does anyone have any tips? I feel bad for all the regulars that come here, especially the ones that I know are using bird boxes in the yard
