Thoughts on the new cb photosketch

I am absolutely obsessed with the recent concept photos for The Sin : Bliss.
It really feels like the members are really challenging the concept they usually go for and experimenting with something completely new. I think we could already see hints of that with The Sin : Vanish, but this comeback feels like an even bigger ste towards broadening their artistic vision.

I especially love how they are playing with gender norms and expectations. It might sound vain, but seeing Jake with long hair and painted nails, Sunoo in a crop top and all of them wearing more “genderless” (not sure if that is quite the word, but it kind of gives off the same clothes that would be worn in a fashion show) clothing genuinely made me see a different side of them. There is something refreshing about seeing them express themselves this way.

I think a lot of people tend to perceive them as very masculine, but to me, they’ve always had the ability to embody so many different sides of themselves. They can pull off something masculine just as effortlessly as something more androgynous. That versatility is something I admire a lot about them.

Poorly hidden homophobia

Why are we still having these discussions ??

Not only is this homophobic but it will also just bring more hate to Sunoo since she’s using him to put down Evan 🤦

EDIT : I know that in the past people have used these terms in a malicious way regarding Sunoo but I expect his own fandom to not repeat those patterns…

EDIT 2 : Sorry for the mistake, there was in fact a recent homophobic post made about Sunoo. I wasn’t aware of it when I made the post, so I take that back. My point still stands regarding using Sunoo to put Evan down and being blatantly homophobic while doing so.

Why do engenes hate sunsun / sunsunists so much ?

First of all, I want to say that yes, of course there are shippers who take things too far and become weird. But that is true for every ship. Sunsun is just one of the more popular pairings, so those people are naturally going to be more visible.

That being said, I've noticed this fandom has a strong dislike for sunsunists. Anytime someone makes a post about the two, there's almost always someone in the replies telling people to stop being delusional, or calling them weird. Which... I find pretty hypocritical when there are people who openly make incredibly sexual comments about what they want to do to Sunghoon or Sunoo, and no one seems to care.

There are even accounts dedicated entirely to hating sunsunists and telling them to die (yes, I've genuinely seen that on Twitter, but that's unfortunately not surprising on that app).

There also often seems to be very backhanded comments directed at Sunoo when it's not baragis who are criticizing the ship (I am not sure if it's the same for Sunghoon but I wouldn't be surprised if it was). That's why I think, in many cases, it's less about the ship itself and more about toxic solos not liking seeing their fav paired with someone else.

It gets harmful in the long run because I have seen an official Sunghoon fan page promoting a Jakehoon voting event but not an ongoing Sunsun one.

VIP - Help

So I got a VIP2 ticket in Amsterdam for Enhypen except I have no idea how kpop concerts work.

It’s going to be my first VIP experience and I just want to make sure I know the whole gist of it.

What I understand so far is : the venue sends an email telling you when queuing starts (usually 8am) where you will get a number for the actual check in (which starts later).

What I don’t get is for the actual check in line up, do they call the numbers or something ? Do people actually respect the numbers ?

Also I’ve seen posts about some people camping a day before the show T____T is that common in Amsterdam or a little less ?

Thank you !!

I hate the whole "don't assume" discussion

Okay this might be a bit controversial, but please hear me out.

I genuinely can't stand it when the immediate response to someone suggesting an idol might be queer is "stop assuming their sexuality".

What frustrates me is that this reaction is being presented as the morally superior position, and like it’s standing up for the queer community, when in reality, most of these people couldn't care less about us. Because when people point out this whole mentality is rooted in homophobia, no one acknowledges it.

It's also feels so hypocritical. Fans make assumptions about idols all the time. They assume their personality, their relationship, dating preferences, political beliefs...

Yet the moment the assumption is that someone might be queer, it suddenly becomes unacceptable and inappropriate.

To be clear, I am not defending fans who insist an idol is definitely queer with very little proof or based on appearance only. Those kinds of claims can absolutely cross the line. But I also believe there is a nuance between baseless statements and recognizing cultural references that resonate with queer people.

When queer fans bring their experience into the discussion, it immediately gets shut down. Meanwhile, heterosexual assumptions are so normalized, people don't even treat that as assumptions.

Why are queer interpretations treated as inappropriate but straight ones are considered neutral ?

Pre-sale

I asked a similar question a little while ago sorry ><
Do the first copies of the album come with a signed pc ?

The pre-sale is at 4AM where I am but I really want to get a signed merch T___T

I was thinking of joining a GO but surely that would mean no signed copies if that is a thing.

Sorry I’m somewhat new to this !!

Signed albums

How do people usually get signed albums or PCs ? T___T

I heard they are usually part of VIP1 benefits (?), but is there really no way to buy one when a new album comes out ?

Enhypen Brazil / B-engenes

I would like to preface this by saying this is not meant to generalize Brazilian engenes at all. I’m only sharing what I’ve been seeing in engene spaces.

Apparently, some b-engenes are upset that Enhypen seemingly only spoke to k-engenes after landing in Brazil. I saw many people saying they wish the members had at least posted something like “Hi, Brazil”. (Which idk why they would expect that considering they have never done that for any of their stops as far as I know.)

On top of that, I’ve come across a few people directing hateful comments towards Jungwon and Sunoo.

From what I understand, some b-engenes were upset over a joke Jungwon made about the time difference during his live (last photo), although I can’t say for certain what everyone is saying.

As for Sunoo, I’ve seen people telling others to go to his DMs and insult him, telling him to speak Portuguese and making other rude comments.

Some fans have claimed that these comments were ironic and only jokes, and maybe they are. But the members aren’t your friends. And speaking that way comes off as disrespectful.

I’d really like to hear everyone’s opinion on this !

Need advice !

I posted this on Twitter and it got a little more attention than I thought and a Korean engene (???) ended up retweeting with the following (second slide).

I’m scared it’s going to attract negative attention now. I just wanted to share these wholesome photos with other queer engenes but idk…

Don’t know if it’s important to add but that is the only “negative” reaction it got and thankfully is not directed towards the group. Everyone is being very kind and loving.

Sunoo “stereotype”

Saw this on Twitter/X and it feels a little backhanded.
While I agree that the company treats Sunoo differently and unfairly, saying he is being caged in a stereotype feels a little weird considering that he is just being… himself ?

Maybe I’m overthinking it, but the way some people are so determined to portray him as this overly masculine person when he himself has said he is not like that is strange.

Fandom toxicity

This might just be me being overly sensitive but the amount of cruelty in Kpop fandoms is genuinely draining. To the point it's causing many fans to walk away from these spaces or be reluctant to get into a group because of how mean people are.

And it's not even just between fandoms, sometimes it is within the fandom itself. It feels like you can't share an opinion that differs from the popular narrative (which, I would like to add, usually starts with one big account and then gets accepted as absolute truth) without being insulted, called a fake fan, or worse.

I personally have had horrible experiences with my ult bias' subfandom (too scared to say who T__T). I've been told so many times that I am not a "real fan", simply because I don't agree with everything that the majority says. I try to not let it get to me, but hearing it over and over again gets exhausting. At the end of the day, I'm just here because I genuinely love and want to support my favs.

I know this isn't anything new, but it still makes me a little sad. Fandoms are supposed to be spaces where people can share their love for a group, yet they end up with overwhelming hostility over the smallest disagreements.

Solo stans (from a baragi)

The solo stan issue in the Enhypen fandom has genuinely become so exhausting that I've considered leaving the fandom multiple times.

I am a baragi, but I also love all the members and Enhypen as a group. Recently, I've been seeing baragis (solos) talking about how they want him to leave the group/company due to his lack of solo activities. Before anything, I want to make it clear that I completely understand the frustration. I also think the company is treating Sunoo (and another member) very unfairly, and fans have every right to be upset.

What I find bizarre is this weird insistence that leaving Enhypen is the only solution. To me, it feels like projecting what they want on him, and also refusing to acknowledge his importance in the group.

They justify is by saying they want "the best for him" but, at the end of the day, we do not know what that is. We are not his manager, friends, or family. We are just fans.

I also think it reflects a bigger issue within the fandom, which is that some fans seem convinced the members have no agency over their careers/lives. It's understandable to want to see your favorite idol succeed, but they are adults. They are capable of making their own decisions.

What frustrates me the most is how solos will immediately jump on you and call you a fake fan the second you don't agree with their narratives. If you say you enjoy seeing the members together, want them to succeed as a group, or that you hope Sunoo stays, then you are immediately labeled as a fake fan or told you don't deserve to call yourself a baragi.

I don't know if this is the case for other sub-fandoms as I am not very involved on there, but just wanted to share my frustrations and see if anyone feels the same T__T
