Anyone else feel incredibly guilty asking for financial help from parents?

For context, I’m from an immigrant family. We are not wealthy by any means but I’ve maxed out all other resources. I’m also a UBC grad and have loans to pay off. I’m now in the process of moving to a new city with much better job opportunities and there’s finances related to that which I don’t have fully covered. I just feel so guilty as I have opportunities my parents never had.

How to buy a car with no credit?

I’m a grad student moving to Seattle from Canada as a dual citizen. I have no US credit and can’t import my Canadian car as it’s missing the tire pressure monitoring system. I’m at a total loss and don’t know what to do. I need a vehicle to get around and to drive back and forth to Canada.

Is Facebook marketplace reliable as an option? For newer cars?

Easy-moderate hikes with great views and no steepness?

In the Seattle area up to the Cascades and down to Mt. Rainier. Have an extreme fear of steep slopes due to rolling down a hill as a child and breaking my arm. Left me impacted ever since so I would like to avoid them.

Canadians moving to the US: Was the move stressful for you?

For context, I’m moving from BC to WA. Yes, I have all
my paperwork done for immigrating yet moving to the US is still so stressful. Getting approved for a new US bank account, credit card, finding rent, etc etc.

Goodbyes with long time clients are hard - how do you cope?

Been with a family for over 4 years (in-home) for two young siblings. One I’ve known since they were 11 months and the other 3. I’ll be moving to a different city to pursue my master’s but yet this goodbye is hard on me.

How do you deal with goodbyes with your clients?

Been an in-home BT for over 4 years and I’m having such a hard time leaving my first ever family. 7 year old girl and 5 year old boy. I’ve grown such a great bond with them over the years and it breaks my heart when the girl tells me herself how she doesn’t want me to leave.

I’m leaving as I will be moving to attend grad school in sped to support even more kids ❤️

Things to do in July-September? Moving to Seattle

I’m moving to Seattle for grad school and have 2 months of free time with no responsibilities before school and work starts. I feel so guilty in a way as I’ve never had this much free time before and I’m not used to it and like to keep myself busy.

I have a car and I’m active. Don’t enjoy the nightlife.

Anyone feel bad for having so much free time the summer between their Bachelor’s and Master’s?

The thing is I’ve worked so so hard to get to this point in my life. I now have 2 months off of no work, school, etc.

The thing is I’m moving countries for grad school. I guess this time is good for adjusting to a new place?

Is Dog Mountain good for a beginner who’s afraid of steep sections/hills?

My bf is visiting from Seattle and Dog Mountain seems to have great views at the end. We are both relatively fit (workout at the gym) but don’t hike much. We will have proper Merrell hiking shoes as we know the conditions are technical.

Is this trail good for a person who’s afraid of steep sections? I unfortunately cannot go down any steep sections due to rolling down a steep hill as a kid and breaking my arm. Left me afraid for life.

Is 90k (starting salary) enough to live decently in Seattle?

Salary will grow every year as it’s on a salary grid in a very high need field. Mid 20s, partner lives separately (for now).

Edit: I don’t enjoy nightlife and a car is a necessity for my job/commute.

Best Mt. Rainier hikes? First time

My partner and I are in our mid 20s and relatively fit. I am recovering from wisdom teeth surgery and stopped going to the gym but will be back in shape by the time we go to Mt. Rainier.

Looking for easy-moderate hikes. Is Skyline Loop good?

Best Chinese Food in Richmond for tourist?

I guess I’m looking for a place that would have things like sweet and sour pork, fried rice, etc. Is this Cantonese food? I’m not familiar with the different cuisines.

My friend is visiting Vancouver for the first time ever and want to bring them to some good Chinese food. Also has to take credit/debit.

How are you guys affording grad school?

Professional programs are barely covered by fafsa now and I have to take out private loans. Assistantships are not available for new admits in my program either. (also not interested in delaying attending school at all as I worked throughout my undergrad and extended my degree by a few years)

Getting married in grad school - doable?

For context, my undergrad took 7 years cause of a mix of factors. I’m now starting my dream program this september to become a special education teacher. It’s a 1.5-2 year program and my boyfriend and I are planning for eventual engagement and wedding. Or should I wait getting married out? I have worked so so hard to get to this place in my life.
