How to study late at night without destroying your sleep cycle (My routine)
If you have to pull a late-night study session, standard study playlists or bright screens can completely mess up your melatonin levels, making it impossible to sleep when you finally finish. Here is the routine I use to stay focused but wind down my brain at the same time:
Turn off overhead lights: Use a dim desk lamp or bias lighting behind your monitor to reduce eye strain.
Ditch the lyrics: Lyric-heavy music uses the same part of your brain required for reading/retention. Stick to deep ambient or drone music.
Keep the visual input dark: Avoid bright white screens or flashing videos on your second monitor.
I actually composed a 4-hour dark ambient track specifically for this—it’s paired with a dark stone spa visual that keeps the room dim and peaceful while you work. Drop it on your screen if you have a long study block tonight: https://youtu.be/xMDiIOy9-0E
