☀️ Sunday Sunnies Social Hour

Hello everyone! Happy summer!

Welcome to our new weekly (weekendly?) discussion post on r/Assistance! This is a spot for casual conversation, sharing positive vibes, and getting to know the fellow members of our wonderful community.

What to post here:

  • Stories about yourself, your pets, your kids, etc.
  • Recipes, recommendations, and other fun things to do.
  • Positive stories about your experiences on r/Assistance.

What not to post here:

  • Direct requests for assistance.
  • Links of any kind -- for recipes just copy&paste or mention the name. (We may adjust our automoderator down the road)
  • Soft begs/doom and gloom stories about how broke you are.
  • Harassment to anyone.
  • Complaints about the sub, the rules, or the mods.

The mod team will be monitoring these threads carefully to make sure everyone is following the rules and no shenanigans occur. If things go well, we will probably be automating these threads every Sunday even beyond summer.

Have fun!

DO NOT REQUEST for ferals, strays, rescues, colony animals here

You may not request for:

• Strays/Ferals
• TNR. (Trap and release)
• Cat/dog colonies.
• Temporary fosters.
• Community/neighbourhood "pets".
• Wildlife animals you've found out in the wild (birds, squirrels, etc).
• Pets belonging to friends or distant relatives.
• Shelters/rescues that are private and/or unregistered.

If the animal does not legally belong to you (or an immediate family member), you are not allowed to request here. No exceptions. While it’s unfortunate that many countries don’t have the infrastructure to care for innocent abandoned animals, it is not your financial responsibility nor is it appropriate to pass that burden onto internet strangers. Especially when that is the only thing your Reddit account is being used for.

This has always been against the rules and we are taking a firmer hand in exiting these exclusively-for-begging accounts completely from our subreddit. (Did you know the USL has a #beggar tag?)

Thank you.

40/f looking for some fantasy recommendations similar to/like my highest rated reads.

Hi all!

I am a bookworm to the Nth degree; last year I read 254 books and cleared out about 80% of my TBR list so I'm looking to fill it up again in preparation for some upcoming summer vacation time.

I'm 40 (turning 41 next month) and so I've read a lot of the classics through my life. My tastes now tend to skew towards cozier fantasy and romantasy. The only thing I'm not good with excessive gore and body horror -- BOFD made me squirm through some of the more violent fighting/torture scenes. Smut doesn't bother me and is not a requirement!

Here is a list of the books I have rated 4 or 5 stars. Would love some recommendations from others who enjoyed these books as well!

  • I'll Find You Where the Timeline Ends
  • Legends and Lattes/Bookshops and Bonedust (DNFed the third book, so disappointed)
  • The Tainted Cup/A Drop of Blood
  • The Second Death of Locke
  • Wooing the Witch Queen
  • Heartless Hunter/The Crimson Moth
  • Five Broken Blades trilogy
  • The Girl with No Reflection
  • The Spellshop/Enchanted Greenhouse
  • The Faraway Inn
  • Heavenly Bodies
  • Caraval series
  • Once Upon a Broken Heart series
  • Alchemy of Secrets
  • Starling House (fave book of 2025)
  • The Everlasting (fave book of 2026)
  • The Knight and the Moth
  • A House with Good Bones
  • The Teller of Small Fortunes
  • When the Moon Hatched/Ballad of Falling Dragons
  • A River Enchanted/A Fire Endless
  • Bury our Bones in the Midnight Soil
  • The Invisible Life of Addie Larue
  • The Rose Bargain
  • House of Hollow
  • The Invocations
  • Fourth Wing series
  • Fable/Namesake

Subreddit is back online!

Hello all!

We appreciate your patience during what ended up being the longest subreddit shutdown we’ve ever had — almost a full 48 hours.

Reddit has recently made changes to how they handle and authorize data scraping requests such as how our automatic moderator systems check your account for karma, account age, and so on. It’s likely this will also take down systems like ArcticShift in the future which is an unfortunate result as well.

Thankfully our genius head mod was able to implement some authentication fixes and we are back online.

Any registrations done during the outage should be fine. If you were one of the people who managed to post during the 10 minute intervals while we were testing over the last 2 days and your post was manually removed, feel free to modmail us so we can process your post through the system and see if you’re eligible.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding. We had an auto-responder activated during the shutdown and an announcement pinned but there was understandably still some confusion for everyone, including our mod team.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

BTS video from the finale immediately after Jeff’s blooper pre-fire

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYnVoCFyCky/?igsh=dDl3d3VkM3Vkenk2

Video was taken by a seat filler during the commercial break following Jeff’s spoiler with Rizo. Jeff handles it with a good sense of humour.

Jeff: Wait, what DID happen? Did we show the wrong —

Crowd: shaking heads, calling “no fire” etc

Jeff: So I came out too soon?

Crowd: YES!

Jeff: That’s pretty fucked up. Okay.

Traitors Canada S3E4 has spoilers for the winners of S1/S2 — here’s how to avoid them

Shared in the post about S3 being available in the UK without the first two seasons but someone suggested making its own post.

Alright, so here's the breakdown.

One thing to note is in Canada, the episode that airs on TV is around 42 minutes (because we have commercials) but the version that is uploaded to our streaming platform, Crave, the next morning is extended and has closer to an hour long runtime. So I am not 100% if the versions that are distributed to the US and the UK are the extended or broadcast versions.

Anywho:

Series 3, Episode 4 has a runtime of 52 minutes and 20 seconds (including "this program contains blah blah blah" and the recap)

The round table starts at approximately 28 minutes in.

The first person to speak at the round table is a balding guy with glasses. He has the final confessional right before they walk into the round table so you’ll know who I'm referring to. So when he starts speaking at the round table at around 28:55, fast forward to 30:00 but if you wanted to be extra safe (due to any differences in episode length or just clumsy fingers) his pitch ends around 31:00 and then another player takes over.

When the person is speaking, it does show a brief flashback of the winners of the first two seasons. They also explicitly state identifying details about the winners (ie. whether they're a civilian or a celebrity, etc) so the spoilers are both audio and visual.
