Blown Away

OMG, just watching the 4K reissue of the movie Blown Away, and they have replaced Here's Where the Story Ends, about 40 mins in, market scene, with some horrible, generic cover version that I've never heard before, sounds like the worst K-Tel type version!

Quick search on Google reveals the old "licensing issues" chestnut.

Quite jarring I have to say!

Is there some sort of outage, or is it just me?

Got a strange message on HA:

One of your meters (x meter number x) is associated with tariff "E-1R-EDF_FREEPHASE_DYNAMIC_12M_V2_HH-N" for product "EDF_FREEPHASE_DYNAMIC_12M_V2_HH", but no longer seems to be returning new rates. This can occur if your tariff has ended but you have not been moved to a new one, or if there is a temporary issue with the EDF Energy rate feed. Please contact EDF Energy if the issue persists.

Error kicked in 10 hours ago.

However, I've also noticed the following:

https://fprates.online/N - says estimated for todays rates even though they are known.

https://agilebuddy.uk/latest/freephasedynamic - "There was a problem loading the latest FreePhase Dynamic data for the Southern Scotland region." Didn't update at midday yesterday as it usually does.

I can see the upcoming rates if I click through on my EDF account page.

On the EDF Hub, the trends page, I have nothing after 11pm on Sunday 5th July and when I go the the "week" view there is no data at all week beginning 29th June, even though if I put it on the day view then I can see the daily data no bother (up to 11pm 05/07).

All seems very weird and the two websites that usually give the prices are obviously not tied to my account.

edit: not just me it seems, looks to be an api issue?

"reload the integration"...

Just getting round to setting things up, more just for a nosey I suppose as I'm only on Freephase Dynamic and just wanted to see how things looked for telling others in the house the prices at a glance.

I did this yesterday but I notice today I get a repair warning in my HA settings:

"**my account number**" requires reloading

Warning · Reported by EDF Energy

The electricity rates for "**my account number**" have updated which result in either entities no longer updating correctly or new entities becoming available. Please reload the integration associated with this account to fix this issue."

Anything I am missing here? Is there a way to have the rates change automatically as they did before on the Agile plugin I used when I was with Octopus, or is this going to happen every day?

Cheers for your time in this, now if only EDF would punt out a mini of their own!

EDF having trouble with my smart meter after switch?

I'll try to keep this as brief as possible (famous last words).

I've been on Octopus Agile for ages (we have solar but no EV or battery) but decided I'd give EDF Freephase Dynamic a whirl as all the comparisons I've been doing over the last few months tell me that for a LOT less faffing around I'd still be saving an extra tenner a month over Agile.

https://agilebuddy.uk/latest/freephasedynamic

Thanks to there, however the standing charge is still wrong despite me emailing the creator a couple of times.

I realise they need to lock down the 30 minute reads but didn't think this would be an issue as its a fairly new SMETS2 meter and Octopus have been getting the 30 minute reads for a couple of years without any issues.

So I was prepared for a few days on the SVT (last time I went back to Octopus after getting out of Tomato just before they went bust I was on the SVT for 1 day before they moved me back to Agile) so I'm confused as to why EDF can't seem to talk to my meter?

Granted I only joined on 1st June (thought I'd get in before the SVT goes up in July), but the data continues to flow to the Bright and Uswitch apps I use, they can see all the 30 minute data up until 2am this morning as usual, so clearly the data is still going to the DCC.

Just a bit miffed as there are some excellent Dynamic rates today and probably tomorrow as well. Plus I want to make sure I'm in for the free electricity hours over the world cup as well as the Sunday offering.

My meter serial number matches up on my account but they emailed me yesterday asking for another meter read (I already gave them the opening read) and a photo of said reading on the meter with the serial number on display.

I gave them this information via Whatsapp at 8am yesterday morning but nobody has got back to me yet. When I asked previously to change to variable direct debit over Whatsapp someone got back in a few hours. In saying that, I did email them asking about this over a week ago and I never received a reply. This does not bode well for speedy customer service when I was used to Octopus getting back to me within the day on X.

Now I have another, personalised email, this morning telling me the smart meter isn't sending the readings and to send them the photo. So I've repeated all this info from the Whatsapp and sent it off.

I thought this might all be easier seeing as they have Kraken in place but it seems not...

What could be wrong at their end seeing as the DCC are still getting the data?

Edit: checked the app energy hub and my data is now showing, whether coincidence or not after me phoning earlier today I don't know, but would have been nice if they had dropped me an email or phoned to let me know they were getting the data now!

Now to try to change tariff, says I can't do it on the hub and to phone them but I'll leave it til tomorrow and try online, I'm wanting the £25 on offer from Topcashback for switching to FreePhase Dynamic!

edit again:

So, I managed to sign up for Dynamic via TCB for £25, now they need to double check my meter is sending the 30 min reads, 3 to 5 working days it says. Goodness me. If this was Octopus they'd have backdated it to the day I applied!

Let's hope this farce ends soon. Luckily (for me) it looks like there's not much savings to be had next week, but still, what takes them so long?!

Also I notice a few periods on their "hub" saying I have "missing data", but that just corresponds with periods in the afternoon where all my energy needs were met by my solar, so of course its a 0 kWh period! Doh.

Just as a heads up, if you go through https://www.mobiles.co.uk/broadband then you can get the 1.6Gbps for an amazing £33.99/month (rising the £4 of course in 2027 and then 2028, but still cheaper than the ee site price itself).

There is some "discount" attached by EE as well, which means when you are out of contract it will increase quite a bit more, so be on the ball for that.

edit: £100 extra cashback by clicking through Topcashback's own compare tool instead - https://www.topcashback.co.uk/compare/broadband/ thanks to u/SaltyW123 for pointing this out.

I actually joined through this deal yesterday, it was £39.99/month then but had a £180 Mastercard attached to the offer, so a little cheaper over the 2 year contract which suited me as I can offload the cost through my business anyway.

edit: try the desktop site if you don't see it. It will not show up if you fill the drop down box to show you are already with EE, or their sister companies and naturally this is for NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY clicking through from the mobiles.co.uk site (remember to maximise with cashback)

Uswitch

The pending cashback in my Topcashback (plus) account - higher amount to be had from TCB own compare tool.

Looks like I may be getting the next tier of cashback which is £64 for normal TCB and £80 for Plus members, but we will see. EE convolute the price to incorporate a "discount", which I suppose means this allows the price to skyrocket at the end of the 24 months.

Just got my email that I can "check out my offers" for renewing my 910Mb Vodafone.

Have to say, never had any trouble with it, except that one day it went off the other year.

Checked it out and despite the Openreach checker saying my new build has access to 1.6Gbps, Vodafone can't/won't offer me it and I had an enlightening conversation with some rep on the chat telling me "EE work with BT" (er, ok, very knowledgeable so far) and therefore EE have access to the fastest speeds and nobody else does.

The conversation went on to question why I'd rather spend more money for more speed rather than stick with them at 910 when it works just fine - so don't worry Skoda drivers, you will never need that Ferrari! Goodness me.

https://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/threads/i-have-started-to-endure-the-pain-moving-from-910-to-1-6gbps.44322/

interesting reading there.

edit: I know I need an ONT swap, but this nonsense with the 1.6Gbps being on a different ordering system has been going on for ages now.

TL;DR - I'm looking to ditch Sky Stream and get the EE TV, but I'd be wanting the 1.6Gbps package. And if possible I'd like to order it online through Topcashback or the like for an extra bung.

Is there any sign of the TV/1.6Gbps package being able to be ordered on the EE site? Any timeframe?

Edit again:

Thanks for the replies guys. I just pulled the trigger anyway, as of writing it is £47.99/month on the EE website, but going through mobiles.co.uk (and topcashback for an extra £60 cashback), they are offering 1.6 for £39.99 with £180 Mastercard reward (had that before on my last move to Vodafone and it worked out just great).

Unbeatable I have to say. Plus the £80 early termination I can claim from EE.

My Sky Stream runs til December anyway, so I may just wait to see what is available TV wise come Black Friday before pressing any more on the TV stuff.

Edit once again: From today, 1st May the deal on offer through Uswitch is an AMAZING £33.99/month. For 1.6Gbps! Crazy! This is now without the £180 Mastercard bung, so it's actually £1.50/month more expensive than yesterday, but my price from yesterday suits me as I can offload my internet charges through my business anyway.
