Size of detection area - detecting persons "far away"

I have problems with my Frigate detecting persons. It works on very close range but doesn't work anymore when further away. Like only 10% are still recognized.

In my normal cams I use a low res stream for detection and it works very good. But in a view with persons further away I already switched to a full HD stream and still it works very, very badly. The low res stream didn't work at all in that case.

So I understood Frigate will create a square detection size around recognized areas of motion to send to the detector.

When I watch the cam in debug I often see that while motion is detected, there is an immense offset around the motion area. I think the results could be way better, when the object detection area would be more zoomed in on the motion area. I can also see from the detection screenshots that successful detection happens when it's zoomed in a lot.

Also sometimes while the motion area is minimal, Frigate will use almost full image for detection lol.

Is there a way to configure how detection area is applied to the motion area?

How to only upgrade one devices firmware at a time?

So I have this small setup with three device types which involve four actual devices.
There are two Access Points.

How the hell do I only upgrade one devices firmware at a time so I don't have WiFi outage??

I was looking on the devices specific page but there is only custom upgrade where I need to provide the firmware package myself... but there's no convenient way to be found there...

I know this was possible some versions ago because that's how I did the upgrades back then.

Modding the HDZero BoxPro case?

Hi guys,

has anyone modded the HDZero BoxPro case to not look like a lunch box?

I am thinking about getting those but aesthetics are a thing for me and I think the BoxPro are the ugliest goggles I've seen by far. But the price and functions are very appealing.

Has anyone managed to make them look cooler?

I think painting/spraying it all black would do a lot.

Even better 3D-Printing a different exterior case (maybe the upper part only) as the CAD is available also?

Going DJI or HDZero VTX? (Recommendations pls)

Hi guys,

so currently I have

  • AIR II 65 freestyle, analogue VTX
  • Radiomaster Pocket
  • Betafpv VR04 (analogue)

and

  • DJI Neo 2
  • DJI RC-N3

I want to go on and get another manual/acro drone but with better VTX.

I am thinking of some Pavo or Meteor 75. Possibly rather the Meteor because I can stick with my 1S charger.

But I am unsure about which VTX way to go. I want to upgrade image quality and I am stuck between HDZero and DJI... so specificially the HDZero Goggles V2 or either the DJI Goggles 3 or N3. Or would you guys recommend something else? I want something smaller than my VR04 because the size annoys me. Also would be nice if it can receive analogue too as I plan to stick to it with size 65 drones.

Did I miss any major criteria?

Would you recommend something maybe I don't see as of now? Different goggles?

Anyone who has tried both, is the latency disadvantage of DJI very bad when flying freestyle?

VPN with ER605 v2.0 -- why does it not work anymore all the time?

So I rarely use my VPN, but for sure everytime I want to use it, it doesn't work anymore and I have to find out what the fuck happened again...

Usually I end up having to delete and setup the OpenVPN server config in Omada from scratch.

Does anyone experience similar problems?

Is the Pavo Pico II a good choice for second drone? (does it fit my setup?)

Hi guys,

so my first and current setup is

I want to upgrade to better video setup and think about getting the

The 1S batteries I already have are
15 mm * 6,5 mm * 70mm according to specs and
15,7 mm * 6,9 mm * 70 mm measured by me and
they have a BT2.0 connector.

They already don't fit the air 65 battery tray and I just use a zip tie to hang them under the drone.

The Pavo Pico uses LAVA II 2S Batteries which are
13,5 mm * 15,5 mm * 81 mm according to specs and
they have a XT30 connector.

A stack of two of my 1S batteries would roughly be
15,7 mm * 14 mm * 70 mm.

Can I just use two of my 1S batteries and get or build a 2x BT2.0 to 1x XT30 cable and use my existing batteires?

Would also be very neat because I wouldn't need a new charger.

So does that work?

If not, what would be a good alternative?

What other drone would you recommend if not the Pavo Pico II for me to upgrade my setup to HD? (preferably DJI)

Other drone I had in mind is a Meteor75 Pro O4 but I'd prefer the Pavo...

Betaflight Angle vs. Horizon Mode

Hi guys,

so I read that Angle is the "legacy" mode and the newer one is Horizon.

In my perspective they are pretty similar but I ask myself what improvements brings the Horizon mode?

What I experienced:

Angle Mode allows very precise control and keeping the drone stable. Maybe it's sloewr? I only fly indoors and rather slowly. Didn't test max speeds yet.

Horizon Mode is possibly faster. It absolutely gets faster fast, so higher acceleration with lower throttle. But that makes it harder to steer. Also it tends to crash way faster when bumping into something. In Angle Mode I can catch the drone almost every time, but in Horizon Mode it's 50/50 if I can catch it or the drone instantly crashes.

What are your experiences?

I just upgraded my frigate container running on Proxmox from 0.13 to 0.17.

First thing is some stuff in the config doesn't work anymore... okay I guess, I just removed it (it was all in the "record" config section).

But the worst: It is so damn slow now.

Okay I get it has like more features now and my hardware is not the best (old i3)... but.. it is SO unbelievable slow now. It's kind of not usable anymore. Stream previews now take at 10 seconds to load.. most of the time it even is "no frames received, check error log".

I am at a point where I think of going back to a previous version or completely switch to some other nvr.

I mean it's great that development goes on and there are new functions, but I am not getting new hardware only for a nicer web ui.

Anyone has tips to improve the performance?

Hi guys,

I got a new Air65 and I have massive trouble getting the VTX to work.

I flashed the Air65 with Betaflight-App and also updated and coupled ELRS to the remote.

But I don't get video signal on my BetaFPV VR04.

Under Ports the UART2 is set to TBS (SmartAudio).

The VTX table was EMPTY at first but I got it from the web and saved it.

I corrected some few values to now 100% fit the values my VR04 shows in the UI.

But still when I scan channels on the VR04 or select the one I set up on the drone I still have no image.

What am I doing wrong?
