What is everyone doing

If half the degrees need a masters, and only a small percentage of people are making it into the masters programs, what is everyone doing afterwards 🧍🏻‍♀️ everyone says that about BA degrees but all I’m hearing from a majority of BSc and BA holders are that they can’t find jobs and didn’t get into grad school. Is uni just a scam what is happening

Occupational therapy vs radiology tech

I’m trying to figure out what I want to do post grad and it’s been difficult to find the in-depth details of both of these careers. Both options sound good to me, I’m interested in healthcare but I don’t want to be as hands-on as nurses are with bodily fluids and wound care(ily nurses, I don’t have the stomach for it lol) so I’ve landed on these two choices. Im wondering if anyone here is an OT or a rad tech, or knows one personally, and has insight/input on the things that may not be as well known about each career.

Idk if it’s imposter syndrome or what

Does anyone else feel like no matter what they do or what degree they’re in, they’re never smart enough or never doing something grand enough? Like there’s always something bigger and better, and whatever you’re doing doesn’t feel like enough, because there’s always someone in a more challenging degree or with a higher GPA or with more extra curriculars or research experience, list goes on.

Is transferring to bsc worth it

I’m halfway thru my 3rd year of BA psych with a couple grad schools on my mind + after degree as a backup plan, but lately I’m realizing how much I enjoy sciences over humanities. I’m debating transferring to the BSc, but in order to do that, I need to upgrade to math 30-1 before Oct 1st, and I’ll be delaying graduation by about a year.

I have research experience, and my credits so far in third year are sitting at a 4.0. I know those two things are crucial for grad school, so I’m kind of worried that transferring may cause my gpa to go down a little, as I would have no elective credits left, and have to do about 12-15 courses of solely science credits.

I’ve been debating with myself for a while on what to do, as I do really love the neuropsych side of things. Any input would be really appreciated

Notes for anat 200, biol 108, or psych 367 (perception)?

I’m trying to get ahead a bit with some of the courses I’m taking next year, and I was wondering if anyone has their notes from any of the courses in the title that they’d be willing to share? Please!

Bio/physics/math notes or resources?

My little cousin is going into grade 12 and wants to get ahead with studying, however, she doesn’t have Reddit to ask for resources herself. I graduated a couple years ago and no longer have any of my notes from high school, so I thought I’d post on here and ask if anyone would be willing to email me their notes for any of the following classes

Bio 30
Physics 30
Math 30-1 or 30-2 (ideally both?)

I really want to help her out, so I’d appreciate anything that anyone can offer! Whether it be your own notes, or resources that are applicable to the Alberta curriculum for these subjects.

Regretting degree choice partway thru

I’m sure there has to be other people out there in the same boat, but I’m halfway through my third year of my psych degree, and after taking courses like neuropsych and clinical neuro, I realized I would much rather be in healthcare. I’m immensely regretting my degree currently, because I spent over three years and thousands of dollars on it, when I could have gone to NAIT and became a radiology tech instead. I’m shifting my last two years to take more courses like anatomy and mmi etc. but I feel very defeated and like all this effort and time was for nothing. I thought I wanted to be a psychologist when I started this degree, but things have changed. I’m wondering if anyone else has been through something similar and where they are now, how did things work out?

I don’t get the grad school “gotcha”

People always say “that degree is useless without a masters” as if it’s an insult, and it doesn’t make sense to me lmao. Majority of the degrees nowadays require more schooling than a bachelors, and even the degrees that can find you a job after graduating, such as teaching, still need a masters to make more money. Why is the need for grad school framed as this negative thing, rather than seen as a path that requires hard work and determination

On an LOA, don’t want to go back

Been here for over 3 years, currently on a leave of absence, and I’m dreading going back next month. This company sucks lol. I’m so genuinely sick and tired of drive times and writing on cups and a million new drinks with 18 steps each. This company was fun when I joined back in 2022, but god I’m so tired of this place. I’m applying to new jobs every day but idk what I’m gonna do if I don’t find one before my leave is up.

Transferring from BA to BSc?

I’m in my third year of BA psych and I realized I enjoy sciences a lot more than humanities. I want to switch to a BSc for my fourth year, but I’m wondering if there’s any roadblocks in terms of highschool courses at this point. I didn’t take math 30-1 for example, however, my advisor said that this far into my degree it shouldn’t matter, but he wasn’t 100% sure. I’ve already completed the requirements of minimum 3 credits from each type of science, and I have about 40 of the 72 science credits completed with a 3.6 GPA.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation, or simply knows more about this ?

gained 30 lbs since this time last year. im lost

it’s my first time in this subreddit, but i weighed myself today for the first time in a while and had a huge reality check seeing 170.8 lbs staring back at me. i went on a trip this time last year at 141.8 lbs and i feel so unbelievably defeated and angry with myself. im so lost on what to do and how to fix this, how do i start? how do i even begin to fix this? i miss how i looked last year, i was the most confident i’ve ever been. now, i don’t want to go out, or take photos, or see people, or do anything, because i feel so unhappy and insecure with myself.

jobs in med w/o med school?

in headed into my third year of my degree in BA psych, and after taking neuro 210 i realized just how much passion and interest i have in the medical field. i’m switching to a bsc for my fourth year, but im trying to figure out what other pivots i could take that may get me in the direction best suited for me.

i don’t want to go to med school, i don’t have the stomach for very hands-on/invasive patient care, so nurse/doctor isn’t an option.

i still want to do something more med/science based, but i don’t know where to start in terms of searching for jobs or programs. i considered neuropsych for a while, but i don’t want to be in school for another 8 years (which is also why i didn’t want to attempt med school)

i plan to finish my bachelors regardless, as im too far in to stop now, and i enjoy the courses, but does anyone know where i can start the search, or know of some jobs that may align with more of what im looking at? i know NAIT has some programs in radiology tech, which ive been interested in, but i want to know what else is out there.

how bad is anat 200

i’m planning on taking anat 200 in the winter sem, and people either say it’s memorization heavy but doable, or that it’s hell on earth and they would never wish it upon their worst enemy. what was it like truthfully for yall who took it?

biol 107 or 108?

i hear so many mixed reviews on which class is harder. i only need one lab science credit so im debating between 107 or 108. i’m leaning towards 108 because im much better with bio than i am with chem, but could someone who’s taken both give their honest opinions and lmk how both classes are?

tips for stem course studying

i’m doing my first full-time semester of solely stem classes in the fall (i used to do mostly arts based classes but i switched my degree up) and i’m wondering if anyone has tips for managing the workload and keeping up with studying to get at least an A- overall. i’ll be doing classes like bio, neurobiology, neuropsych, stroke mechanisms, anatomy, and chem. any tips are appreciated thank yew

i’m so frustrated

i’m doing a psych BA because i didn’t want to take chem or calculus. I found out yesterday the BSc requirements for psych changed and you no longer need to take them. psych BA only lets you take 5 additional psych classes, but BSc has no limit, so you can take all the cool 300-400 level classes that i’ve been wanting to take, but can’t, because i have no more “additional courses” left. i can’t switch to a BSc at this point, i’m in third year and i’d have a solid 3-4 classes nuked from my transcript and zero space for gpa boosters for the last sixty credits, which are the most important. i’m so unbelievably frustrated, arts students get treated like absolute dogshit. why can i not take more psych classes if i’m a whole ass psych major.

genuinely fucking hate this degree, but it’s too late to do a BSc. very defeated, i hate this university.

how would applying to pharmD work with an existing degree

possibly a stupid question, but i’m finish up my psych degree, and i have a couple ideas in mind for afterwards (OT, after degree in education, MSC communication disorders, neuropsych etc) but lately ive had pharmD come to mind. I barely have any of the pre reqs, but im wondering if there’s a specific route/method of completing the pre reqs (eg: does it have to be done in max 2 years?) i’m not set on pharm yet, but i figured i’d ask for some info about it and think abt if id like to pursue it after i finish my current degree. is there anything i should know that isn’t super common knowledge?
