After I watched the new "Nobody Here" documentary, I think that this one is far superior in every way.

The most redeeming quality of the new one is the label creators talking about how they shared works. Also the way they discuss their creations is interesting as a musician. But that is about it.

The new one is essentially all the big name artists patting themselves on the back and as a fan of vaporwave it leaves out the inherent isolationist quality the genre has. Let's be serious for a moment, most of the time anyone was listening to vaporwave was when they were alone, it was never easy to introduce it to anyone. This documentary however captures the experience of discovering and listening to a genre meant to gatekeep itself. The mystery of listening to a complete unknown vaporwave artist with no viewers and having a significant experience is something important to the genre. The new documentary has the big names, and it paints a picture where they are the driving force behind it all. While I love the works of Luxury Elite and catsyscorp, the droves and droves of insignificant releases are what made the community, not just the popular artists and albums. All in all, Vaporwave was dead when fame and celebrity status was given to certain artists, as the true meaning of vaporwave is found within the endless wave of unknown music, from unknown sources, for the user to find for themselves.
