Feeling completely overwhelmed trying to fix my aim

So I've been playing FPS ( Apex now i but i played everything from r6s to arena breakpoint) and Dota 2 for years and recently decided to actually try to improve my aim. Turns out my entire setup was a disaster and I didn't even know it.

Before:

  • 3200 DPI
  • Windows pointer speed at 10 (yes, TEN. i dont know why)
  • g502x plus + basic logitech cloth pad
  • Pure wrist aim

I basically discovered I was playing at an effective sensitivity of around 6400+ DPI this whole time. My entire muscle memory was built around making microscopic wrist movements to compensate. No wonder my tracking was a mess.

Now:

  • Windows pointer speed to 6, enhanced pointer precision OFF
  • Dropped to 1600 DPI
  • In-game sens 0.69 in Apex
  • Bought a Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2
  • Bought an Artisan Zero Soft mousepad
  • Started Aimlabs with a sub

The mouse feels great and the pad is nice but my aim feels worse than before. My wrist hurts after sessions from consciously trying to arm aim which i find very difficult to use.

Am I overthinking my gear? Transitioning from high-sens wrist aiming to low sense hybrid

Hey everyone,

I’ve played FPS games for a long time without ever thinking about my setup. I always just used whatever mouse was on my desk and whatever sensitivity "felt good," which usually meant high sensitivity. Like 3200+ DPI Unsurprisingly, I’ve always struggled with consistent aim, especially in high-TTK games like Apex.

Recently, I decided to actually put in the work to get good. I’m currently using a Logitech G502 X Plus (i play also tact shooters like R6 or Moba like Dota2) on a Powerplay mat.

I realized my first mistake was my eDPI. I was playing way too high, making my aim jittery and impossible to track with. I’ve recently lowered my settings to 1600 DPI and 0.75 in-game (1200 eDPI). It’s a huge change, but I’m already noticing I can actually stay on target during strafe fights, even though 180-degree turns take A LOT more effort now and i find cannot follow a Octane or Valk at all.

I love the G502 shape for my palm grip, but it’s heavy (106g). I’m a wrist player by habit, and moving this weight at a lower sens is starting to feel like a workout.

I’ve been using the Powerplay cloth pad, but it’s gotten "muddy" and inconsistent. I tried the hard plastic surface, but it felt like ice skating and I couldn't stop the mouse on target at all.

I’m looking at the Artisan Zero Soft (or maybe the Hien) to get that professional consistency, but I find myself constantly obsessing over my posture and whether I should force myself to "arm aim."

My question for the experts: Am I focusing too much on the gear/posture? For a palm/wrist player who wants to keep the G502, is 1200 eDPI on a control pad like the Zero a solid "endgame" or its just coping for my bad tracking target skill? i mean its worth the change?

Ps: i started playing Apex this season and currently i have a 0.6 kd in ranked, but i always had a subpar kd in other fps

TL DR: I'm a 0.6 new player scrub that always used very sense and sucked at tracking targets and I have problem switching to low sense. does your gear really count or its skill issues only?

Is Lucia a bait for new players?

this is my roster as a new player, i missed Yuzu and i deeply regret it ( joined the last four days of her banner and had no idea how valuable she was).

now i’m again facing a re run of a “best” support for a class but the only Rapture dps i would consider pulling is Yixuan which i find really fun playing in the void.

but tbh i don’t even know if it’s worth investing in Yixuan at this point or i’m better saving my pulls for the new 3.x gimmick

Team was flaming me for skipping MKB against Radiance, but I genuinely felt like it wasn't the right call in the game. PA without Deso feels like hitting with a wet noodle to me.

That said, this is exactly the kind of match I want to study more. Losses where the itemization is contested are where I tend to learn the most
