Double Standards in Fandom Shipping
Before I start, I'd like to make it clear that I personally think Vivimeng did an amazing job writing the main 3 ships. Therefore, I do not ship outside Mizisua, Ivantill and Hyuluka. I don't interact with rare pairs because I consider them surface-level compared to the main 3. I'd also like to make it clear that I'm gay asf, so if anyone accuses me of homophobia, I'm calling the police.
On this subreddit alone, I've seen so many people hating on Mizitill. I've also seen people loving Hyunamizi / hyunamizisua. I can understand not wanting to erase lesbian visibility, but there's no indication of Hyuna being into women. Yes, she does kiss Mizi a lot. But literally every straight woman flirts with her female friends just because. This isn't proof that she likes women. And I always felt like Mizi seemed uncomfortable / overwhelmed during these scenes. (Yes, she is blushing, but who wouldn't if Hyuna kissed them?) As for Lukatill — I actually don't even think this is worth talking about. This is literally no.1 queerbaiter x traumatized guy who just wants to leave. There are several other queer ships (Ivanluka, hyunasua, etc.) but those people have literally never even interacted before, so I'm not going to bother.
Also, these ships have big age gaps (but no judgement if you're into that).
Ships like Mizitill, Lukasua (yeah, it exists) and Ivanmizi seem to get a lot more hate than the queer ships. I genuinely can't understand why these ships are "worse" than queer rare pairs. (As I said earlier, they might erase queer visibility, but queer ships with Luka and Hyuna ignore the fact that they could be straight.)
I honestly think that if you're open to queer rare pairs but not straight ones, that's an inconsistent standard. Queer rep is an issue, but !! so is queer fetishization !! Would you like Ivantill if it was yuri? Would you like Mizisua if it was straight?
Personally, idgaf whether a ship is yaoi, yuri or yaori. What matters more to me is the ship dynamic and individual characters.
The Alnst universe has always seemed to me like the kind of place where sexuality and gender don't matter at all. If you like someone, go make out with them. If not, then literally don't. In such a world, why should the fandom impose labels of "queer" and "straight"?
TLDR: If people are okay with speculative queer rare pairs despite little canon evidence, but treat speculative straight rare pairs as inherently worse, there's an inconsistent standard. The issue should be the quality of the ship or its dynamics, not whether it's gay or straight.
Edit: I didn't make this clear enough. This post is targeted towards the hate certain ships receive, not the ships themselves. I think people should be free to ship whatever they want. If you want to ship rare pairs, you should allow others to do the same (whether it's straight or queer).
Something about Eve...
His music is everything to me. Eve's songs have helped me through the worst days of my life and helped me celebrate the best ones. I've listened to so many artists, yet I always come back to him.
I've heard some people call his format repetitive. To some extent, I agree. But I think there's a charm in the repetitiveness. He doesn't whip up catchy tunes that blow up everywhere, but the consistency in his songs is magnetic: the steady voice, the guitar riffs, the emotional climate...I think he prioritises depth over novelty, which is what keeps old songs from getting tiring. There is also a sense of ambiguity in his songs. He seems to leave many things up to interpretation, avoiding obvious resolutions. It strikes me almost as fragments of dreams.
I really think my life will only be complete once I've seen him perform live :P
[Academic] Sleep Paralysis Research Survey
Hi r/DreamInterpretation!
I'm a student conducting an anonymous research study exploring sleep paralysis and fear.
If you've ever experienced sleep paralysis and are above the age of 18, I'd really appreciate your participation. The survey takes approximately 2 minutes, all responses are completely anonymous, and the data will be used solely for an independent research paper.
Thank you so much for participating. Every response helps!
Am I the only one who thinks the second image looks like a cat?
This image shows a reconstruction of how cats perceive human faces. Everyone seems to be talking about how blurry the second image is, but my first thought was that it looks feline. Am I the only one seeing this?
