If you love messy, beautifully flawed characters, you need to watch "We Are All Trying Here" immediately.

So I just finished watching this new dark comedy slice-of-life K-drama, and honestly, at first, I didn't think it would be my thing at all.

But wow, it gives you this literal tingling sensation inside when you watch everyone struggling with their own messy lives and problems. I don't know how other people will feel about it, but you really need to keep your brain and heart wide open for this one. Just embrace the story and these totally messed-up characters—I promise you, by the final episode, it is 100% worth it.

Anyway, let's talk about the story.

First, here’s a quick look at the main characters so you can keep track of them:

  1. Hwang Dong-man

  2. Byeon Eun-a

  3. Hwang Jin-man

  4. Park Gyeon-se

  5. Ko Hye-jin

  6. Hyo-jin

  7. Lee Jun-hwan

  8. Park Young-su

  9. Oh Jeong-hee

  10. Jang Mi-ran

  11. Choi Dong-hyun

What it's actually about

The whole thing plays out in a tiny, modest Seoul apartment shared by Hwang Dong-man and Hwang Jin-min.

***The struggle***:

*Jin-min* is just trying to get by working as a welder and harvesting napa cabbage part-time. Meanwhile, ***Dong-man*** has spent two whole decades failing to debut his own film. He's stuck working as a restaurant cleaner and doing some part-time teaching.

**The friendship breakup**:

Then there's the "**Eight Club**"—a group of eight friends who did make it big as film directors. They always hang out at a spot called "**AGIT"**, owned by ***Ko Hye-jin*** (the CEO of KO PARK Firm). But Dong-man's constant envy, jealousy, and bitter, sarcastic comments—basically a **coping mechanism** for his own anxiety and failure—always ruin the vibe. After 20 years of dealing with his negativity, his friends finally **snap and completely cut him off**, banning him from AGIT. But even when everyone else dumps him, ***Jun-hwan*** stays by his side because he can see the pain, loneliness, and deep fear of abandonment hiding underneath Dong-man's bitter exterior.

And then we have Byeon Eun-a:

She is the total opposite—an incredibly sharp, smart, and capable production director at ***Choi Film***. She gives such brutal critiques on screenplays that people literally call her "**The Ax**."

She stays totally calm on the outside even when things go wrong, but her skills end up threatening her toxic CEO, who constantly bullies and mistreats her. Because of her childhood trauma, ***Eun-a*** just takes the workplace harassment silently without ever fighting back.

The weird twist with the watches

Eun-a and Dong-man actually share this really peculiar thing:

They both wear an emotion-monitoring watch that bluntly flashes exactly how they're feeling inside. Eun-a wears hers to figure out the emotional triggers behind her sudden, crazy nosebleeds, while Dong-man just got talked into trying his by a filmmaker friend.

As they cross paths, they start noticing each other and slowly find comfort and peace together. Just being alone together brings them this rare, genuine happiness:

• How they help each other: Eun-a goes through Dong-man’s screenplay line by line, giving him super critical notes and specific areas to fix his flaws.

• Being a safe space: On the flip side, Dong-man becomes a total anchor for her, always calling or showing up in person—especially during those awful nosebleed episodes when she desperately needs someone around.

Why you seriously need to watch this

The entire show is just a massive, complex web of heavy human emotions: hatred, misunderstandings, jealousy, blame, failure, and deep-seated trauma.

But what makes it so incredibly compelling is the **character development**. You watch every single character confront their personal hell, navigate through life's absolute worst challenges, and somehow find their own version of a happy ending while reaching their full potential.

I don't want to get into a massive text wall or spoil anything major, so I'm just going to urge you to go experience it for yourself!

Have any of you guys watched this yet?

My absolute comfort drama: "You are my glory" starring Yang yang and Dilraba 🤌

I don't know what it is about this drama that I come back to it from time to time when I am having a rough time in life, in love life or general life. It's such a nice, cozy and feel good drama that when I watch it, I feel so content and for that period of time, all of my worries disappear.

Tell me your comfort drama? I know there are many, I also have some more comfort dramas, but this one tops my chart. So let's all comment down 👇 each other's comfort dramas and make someone's day better.

Because "Paper has more patience than men"- Started "The diary of a young girl" by Anne Frank

The one who inspired me to share my thoughts and emotions on paper when I was in Std. 8, when I read the chapter in my English textbook, especially the composition she was made to write- "Chatterbox" and "Quack quack quack". And a girl like her, she nailed it!!!

I had been so excited to read this one for a long time but don't know why I couldn't start and when I did, I DNF'd it twice before finally choosing to read it fully and completely.

Share your best lines or parts of the book, that made you fall in love with this book!!

Total beginner looking for the most inspiring biographies/autobiographies of Indian figures. Drop your absolute favorites! 🇮🇳📖

Hey guys! I’m looking to dive into biographies or autobiographies of inspiring Indian figures.

Since I'm a total beginner to this genre, I really want to start with homegrown stories rather than foreign ones. I’d love to learn about their life journeys, the struggles they faced, their biggest life lessons, and what made them who they are.

Drop your absolute best recommendations—the ones that personally moved, motivated, and inspired you the most. Can't wait to see what you suggest! :)

Project Hail Mary (2026) - Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. A bit slow and puzzling at first, but the turnaround is amazing! What was your favorite part ?

I'm just completely out of words. I totally get the hype now! Honestly, it felt a bit slow and like a puzzle in the beginning, which kinda made me want to stop watching... but OMG!! It took such an incredible turn the moment our little alien guy "Rocky" entered, along with his creative ways of communicating with Grace.

There were some crucial moments where I cried like hell—especially when Rocky almost died saving Grace. Oh god, it seriously felt like a part of me was taken away...

The whole movie after that point was just amazing. If you haven't watched it yet, please give it a go without a second guess!

Also, for the ones who have already watched it... let me know what part you liked the most!

Starting Ward D by Freida McFadden! My first book by this author.

I've been seeing a lot of hype around Freida McFadden's psychological thrillers lately, so I decided to pick up Ward D as my very first read by her. The medical/psychiatric hospital setting always makes for a great atmosphere, so I'm hoping for a fast-paced read with a solid plot twist.

For those who have read her books, is this a good one to start with?

Please keep the comments spoiler-free, but I'd love to know your thoughts on her writing style!
