Borealis VIN!

145xx, day one reservation, ordered 3 weeks ago with 21 and CC interior.
Didn’t want to be one of those people but don’t see a bunch of VIN posts today so maybe this will give someone hope.
Might die without seatback blowers, wish me luck on my bold endeavor.

(N)BD: Rodeo Labs TrailDonkey 4.2

Today I hit 2000 miles on my Rodeo Labs TrailDonkey 4.2.

I got it 7 months ago after probably 7 years of ogling custom Rodeo builds on Instagram. I’ve been meaning to write a NBD post this whole time, but I didn’t really have anything interesting to say. This still may not be interesting, but I finally wrote something down.

My inability to write something interesting is not to say that it’s not a fantastic bike, in fact it’s quite the opposite. I am enamored with this bike. I love looking at it, I love riding it, I love thinking about riding it. It is so capable, it makes me feel like a better and faster rider than I am and it makes me ride more. It seamlessly transitions from gravel descent to ripping on the road, like it was made for all of it. It’s not the most aero, it’s not the lightest, it doesn’t fit the widest tires (although it does get pretty close), it doesn’t have a fancy rear suspension or any suspension at all, it just does everything I ask it to do and it always wants more. Also, it has googly eyes and a silly head tube logo because Rodeo is cool as hell and allowed me to indulge. I can’t recommend this bike and this company enough, and I am very sure that I will buy another Rodeo Labs bike in the future.

Do build specs matter? If so: size 61 frame, 170mm cranks, SRAM Force shifters but Rival brakes/cassette because I wanted the buttons (but they don’t actually matter), built with 42 front but REI had a wolf tooth 40T so I’ve been running that lately, Ritchey beacon bars (I’ll never go back to non-flares), originally went with Vittoria T30 Pro 45s, threw on Schwalbe RS Pro 40s when those were worn enough, and have Gravelking X1 50s going on next. I need another set of wheels for all my tire dreams.

Black Aero/Tri bike spotted

Saw a nice all black aero or tri bike with deep wheels at a camp on the path parallel to 101 by Bair Island. Maybe it’s where it belongs, or maybe the owner is looking for it. Wanted to share since I ride by a few times a week and this looks to be a new addition.

TM-B Spotted in the wild

Saw this for the second time and was quick enough to get it on camera this time. Has a distinctive sound, otherwise looks like bike.
