Formless MP7 at Home

To celebrate having some of our freedom restored, I designed and printed a stock, foregrip and can for my CP33. They all work great, and nobody has shot my dog yet.

How neat is this?

I Guess My Recycling Bin Is Just a Permanent Art Installation Now

We're scheduled for the second Friday of the month. Today is the 4th Monday. I know they give a range for pickup dates, but half of my neighbors have just given up and moved their recycling to the trash can at this point.

This sucks and I'm tired of it. We deserve better.

Any Feedback on the updated Slip-Angle 4 Corner Shaker Kit?

Slip Angle has updated their 4 Corner shaker kit with new isolators, mounts, shakers, and amps.

I'm looking at $734.65 after shipping... I want a 4 corner haptic system, but this is a ton of money for something I've never experienced before, and don't know anybody who has actually experienced.

Anybody have a good stories? Bad stories? Discount codes? Suggestions for a DIY system?

Somebody convince me to spend this money.

718 GT4/ GTS Second Gear Grind Fixed with Redline MT90

TLDR: Redline MT90 fixed my persistent 718 4.0L second gear grind.

I have 25K and 3.5 track days on my 2024 Cayman GTS 4.0. Since new it has had a second gear synchro grind. This is common on these cars, and in fact a lot of them also have a 3rd gear grind that I have not experienced. See link below for anecdotal evidence.

https://rennlist.com/forums/718-gts-4-0-gt4-gt4rs-spyder-25th-anniversary/1232755-6mt-1st-to-2nd-gear-grind-poll.html

This grind generally goes away in the 2 -10k miles range. My grind was worse than any instance I've found discussed online, and lasted until well after 10k miles. When the car was warm I would get multiple crunchy upshifts per hour when driving in the mountains or at track events. I complained at my dealer a number of times, and they told me there was nothing they could do unless the grind got worse. Actually, the ~28 year old service writer told me to press the clutch harder and I had to take a walk before I could talk to him again.

I have swapped in fresh Porsche 00004330549 (the OE fill), and Liquimoly LM22090 (not just whatever 75-90 was on the end cap next to the ATF at the parts store). Neither of which yielded any improvement.

At 15k miles I did a Blackstone analysis during the first of the fluid changes, and they proclaimed my trans to be in good health from an oil life and particle count perspective despite the (many) crunchy shifts.

At about 20k I got the dealer to replace the transmission input shaft speed sensor, as it would throw an occasional code on startup. As you would expect, this also did not fix the problem.

This past week, prior to my latest track day on Friday, I drained and filled the trans again, this time with Redline MT90. And miracle of miracles.... I think this actually fixed it. I haven't had a single second gear grind in the ~700 miles and 5 track day sessions since swapping fluid again.

I'm posting all this in hopes that the next guy finds this at ~2k miles, and doesn't have to live with 2 years of crunchy upshifts. I'll update this post if things get worse again, but I'm cautiously optimistic that this solves my problem.

Is My DF54 the Problem?

I've been making pour overs at home for a year or two now. I think my palette is expanding and I'm learning to appreciate good coffee. I have been blaming my technique and my palette for muddled flavors and inconsistency, but I feel like I'm pretty solid on my repeatability at this point, and I'm still not happy with my brews. I'm currently using a Hario Switch, Cafec Abaca filters, DF54 with Miicoffee/ Better Grinding brew burrs, Zero Water filter with Third Wave packets, and have tried a bunch of various roasters.

I say all that to ask, could my DF54 be causing inconsistent/ muddled flavors? With some coffees I'm having to grind in the 70-75 range, and with some I'm having to go way off the scale course to get reasonable drawn down times and acceptable cups. I'm also having to spend a bunch of time stopping and running the grinder and pounding on the bellows to get all the chaff and fines out of it between grinds.

Would an A4Z magically make my cups better and reduce the effort to clean the grinder between cups? I'm having a hard time convincing myself to spend $100-500 on a K6/ ZP6/ A4Z/ whatever on the gamble that the grinder is the problem without somebody telling me this is plausibly my issue...
