Doubt regarding the initial temporary accommodation in Italy

Hi everyone,

I'm joining Politecnico di Torino as a masters student this September. According to the visa guidelines, we need to book a temporary accommodation of atleast 30 days to apply for the visa. Once we arrive in Italy, we will have to apply for the residence permit within the first 8 days.

Usually, we would book an Airbnb or a hotel in booking.com for this.

My question is, if I am getting a temporary accommodation for the first two months as a sublet of a room in an apartment, but without any contract, will that be an issue in my residence permit application? Since I will have to change my temporary residence anyway to a different permanent address. So my initial address on the application and final application would be different anyways.

Or do we specifically need a temporary contract initially to even apply for the residence permit?

Thank you.

Confused between PoliMi Quantum Engineering (Mathematical Engineering) and PoliTO Physics of complex systems

Hey everyone

I recently got into PoliTO's MSc Physics of Complex Systems program (and the Quantum Engineering program), and the Mathematical Engineering MSc at PoliMI (in the Quantum Engineering path).

I'm really aiming to be a theoretical/mathematical physicist, with interests in Quantum Many-Body Physics and Quantum Information Theory. I really like the math part of the PoliMI program, however I find the physics courses to be quite lacking unfortunately.

I've been told however that PoliMI is pretty much the best out there in Italy, and PoliTO would be a significant downgrade.

I wanted other opinions on the topic😅, and would be very grateful to get any input.

Thank you.

Where can I track earnings and all other announcements made on BSE and/or NSE for all stocks?

Hey everyone!

I have been swing trading for around 2-2.5 years now, and while I am consistently profitable, I do often lose money when some earnings are announced and I am unaware of it. The earnings icon on tradingview is often not accurate. Earnings result in a rapid fall of stock, and the only way to actually know about it is through BSE (Screener scrapes BSE I think).

I was looking for a tool that could send alerts to me whenever any new announcement related to a stock is made (On t-e-l-e-gram or whatsapp or email). It would be great if I could see all the announcements in a calendar form so that it is easier to keep track of.

I usually exit a stock before the earnings are released, to avoid unexpected results. And if I am aiming for a big intraday move, I wait for the earnings to release before making a decision. Therefore, it would be great if you could recommend a useful tool for this.

Thank you.

Looking for people joining Physics of complex systems at PoliTO this winter semester

Hi everyone,

I recently got admitted to the physics of complex systems (national track) program at PoliTO. I have been unable to find groups for this program on the goin app, nor have I been able to find other students joining this program in the coming winter semester.

Do let me know your results, and if you're joining there. I would love to join a group for this.

Got into the Quantum Engineering Program

Hi everyone,

I finally got to the evaluation stage yesterday afternoon, with my first stage being cleared and documents sent to academic commission.

And today I opened the portal again and it already shows: "Eligible for the Master of Science program in QUANTUM ENGINEERING, admission under condition that you have all the required original documents upon enrolment and study visa/residence permit (if applicable)."

It was a surprisingly quick decision for academic evaluation. I am quite happy about it and interested in joining there.

However, I have been pre-assigned a few courses:

"Pre-assigned courses on the Personal Study Plan:
02GZYYU Fundamentals of technological processes
01HHOYU Quantum and Matter Physics Introduction"

I have already taken courses in Fabrication techniques and most of the curriculum in Quantum and Matter Physics Introduction. The full curriculum shows up like this in the curriculum webpage:

02GZYYU 03OJPYU Fundamentals of technological processesorProgramming techniques
01GZZYU 01HHOYU Mathematics for Quantum EngineeringorQuantum and Matter Physics Introduction

Does this mean I can not take Programming techniques and Mathematics for Quantum Engineering? I was primarily interested in those two courses instead of the pre-assigned courses? Is it possible to take all four instead?

I would like to ask, how does the system work at PoliTo. Is it possible to take courses outside the regular curriculum mentioned on the website in the form of electives? I only see 3 English subject electives on the full curriculum website. Is PoliTo very rigid regarding the curriculum?

Any extra information would be very helpful in making my decision easier. Thanks a lot in advance.

Flat-footed and wide feet shoe recommendation

Hi everyone,

I am trying to get back into running, after almost a 7 years. I never though much about the shoes as long as they were cheap and fit me. However, I have always had back pain and ankle issues while running. I have relatively wide feet, and a flat foot.

I was recommended by a friend that I should by stability shoes for overpronation and that it often eases back pain and ankle pain while running. However I'm unable to find any wide stability shoes within my budget.

My budget is under 8k.

I would be very grateful if I could get any good shoe recommendations from this community.
