jam trio looking for keys and 2nd guitarist (w/ vocals)

hey all,

we are a pretty fresh trio of guitar/bass/drums all ~30s M who want to add keys (primarily) and possibly another guitarist. at least one of them is ideally also a vocalist

We meet mid-week around 6p in midtown at studios like Funkadelic or Musicmakers!

So far it's a combination of covers, improv/jamming and fleshing out original ideas. Jam rock, funk, jazz, classic rock, post-punk, etc.

Inspirations: King Gizzard, Allman Bros, Phish, Cream, shame, Slowdive, the Fearless Flyers, Wilco, Herbie Hancock, Mac DeMarco, Jimi, QotSA, old surf music, jazz and funk classics..we all listen to all sorts of stuff. For me the important thing is that the material is actually fun to play and not just good to listen to.

Here are a couple clips of us messing around earlier this month (this one started as the River):

I really like how the teeth integrate with the snout

I just caught this beauty watching the British GT and hadn't seen it before

Made me laugh!!!!!

hearing a lot of hum, help tell me if this grounding is typical

Hey all,

I built a partsmaster recently and it's been excellent. Trying to figure out if the amount of hum I hear is normal.

I grounded the pickguard by putting the wire under the bridge thimble

The current phenomenon is that touching strings, trem, tuners doesn't stop the hum

but if I touch the metal on the input jack, switch tip or any of the 13 screws holding the pickguard down, the hum goes away almost entirely.

how can I get that level all the time, if possible?

MJT body, Musikraft Neck and locking tuners, Antiquity Is w/ Super STB wiring

Descendent vibrato and nova brass mustang bridge

Basically went for a classic sound with all the modern playability upgrades I prefer

I was shocked that the action and intonation were 8 pretty 9 out of 10 off the bat. All I did was measure 25.5 to the high E saddle and then based the other relative saddle distances off of another guitar that has the same string gauge

I forgot to get foam pads to give the pickups some more height but that's it!

I recently moved to the city and love playing whether that's just jamming or at a gig. Based out of Hell's Kitchen

I am looking for drummers, bass, keys, vocals to start playing together at least weekly, get originals together and hopefully start playing some gigs. I am free some weeknights, and have lots of time on weekends.

Experienced early 30s guitar playing for 15 years. I have a couple clips from soundcloud here of improv highlights and can also sing (baritone, preferably backup):
(2024/25) https://soundcloud.com/guavatea/sets/51525jamz [with a 4/5 piece]
(2020) https://soundcloud.com/lituga/sets/favs [just with a drummer as 2 piece]

favorites: King Gizzard, QotSA, Soundgarden, Zep, Rush, Twin Peaks, Allman Bros, Toro, Beach Fossils, Mac DeMarco, Wilco, Thundercat, Fleet Foxes, Phish AND LOTS more. I listen to all sorts of genres (also jazz, classical, etc) but those are probably closest to what I'd play in a band.

regarding rehearsal space I know there are a bunch of studios in my area like Fount and Funkadelic which have soundproof rooms with drum kit
