Disclosure: This isn’t me. I found this on IG and figured I’d share to bring more attention to this emerging artist. The artist’s IG handle is in the video.

Don’t want to get my hopes up too much, but I would like to see something new and fresh for stage designs. Diljit has gone with some crazy stage designs elements in the past, utilizing a giant animatronic lion for his Roar tour in 2019 and even a pind stage design during one of his tours, but the focus the past couple years has been primarily on lighting, pyro, fireworks, screens, etc.

With the prices being charged for shows nowadays being quite high, artists need to think out of the box in regard to their stage designs. Having big screens, pyro, and fireworks isn’t enough imho because that is slowly becoming the norm. The next big step is to elevate the stage design to match the jump in other elements of production and provide better value for concertgoers.

Prem Dhillon is a pretty big Panjabi artist. He has ~4.5M monthly listeners on Spotify. And yet he is performing in random night clubs and community centers during his Canada tour.

I’m not pointing this out to shit on Prem but this should tell us that streaming numbers aren’t everything. On ground popularity and fandom is a completely different ballgame and is what draws crowds.

When people say xyz artist should start touring or why doesn’t abc artist do a tour… this is why. Streaming numbers don’t equal crowd pull and it’s easy to fall flat on your face when undertaking tours. We’ve seen it before with numerous artists who are overambitious and end up having to cancel concerts. I actually applaud Prem for knowing his limits and performing in smaller venues that he knows he can most likely sell out or atleast gather a relatively sizeable crowd for.

I feel like Bonafide is a much better album than Bermuda Triangle. Not saying Bermuda is a bad album, personally think it’s okay and a few tracks have grown on me since first listen. But I think Bonafide is significantly better. More variety, better compositions in my opinion, more cohesive lyrics, and overall just better tracks.

Cheema Y has hype and Bermuda will undoubtedly do bigger numbers… but Bonafide is the better album imho and Gur Sidhu deserves bigger numbers in the future if he keeps releasing quality tracks.

Cheema stans will probably hate (and downvote lol) but I’m not hating on Cheema here. Just asking that you give Bonafide a few unbiased listens, if you haven’t, and then decide. I really feel like Bonafide didn’t get the love it deserves. Chances are if you like Cheema’s music, you’ll probably enjoy Bonafide too.
