“15 minutes early myth”

I arrive 15 minutes early (18:45) and end up not getting my route until 19:05 anyway then didn’t leave until 19:16. If you’re going to ask people to come early, make sure they can at least be out the gate and on the way to the first drop on time…

Changes in DXP1

Is this new? Never seen it before, got given one of these and then had to hand it in.

I don’t see how it makes a difference.

Tax write off fuel claim, 55p a mile?

I am in full time PAYE work which my salary is £36k ~

I have started doing Amazon flex, delivery driving, self employed in my own car. I understand I can “write off” some tax via simplified mileage claim. I’ve logged every mile so far. I’m just passing the £1000 threshold, is this where I start claiming?

Does it write off tax directly or just increase my tax free allowance?

Disastrous run

Was bitten by a dog. Hit an almighty pothole/divot in the road and then was in an area of no signal to finish off. Had better runs 🤣

Royal Navy watch

This was given to me by my aunty when I had my son, to sell and put a little bit towards investments into his future.

Trouble is, I’ve never seen one and neither have any of my fellow matelots

It’s a limited edition, 1129/4999, I believe given to veterans. I never received one when I left.

I’ve put it on eBay, I assume a good price but I don’t know. https://ebay.io/m/4s2oFp

Dxp1 always seems to run a little behind.

Normally 5-10 minutes behind time of start, is this usual for all depots?

Routing

If my shift starts at say….19:00 and there’s a few of us going, what difference does it make to the route if you’re the first in line or last?

I see on some flex groups they say be nice to the yard Marshal but honestly can’t see what difference it’d make. (For reference I’m always nice to everyone 😂)

Scanning in parcels

Do you guys scan the totes or the individual parcels.

I scan individually but I always see people just scan the whole tote.

Just yesterday I had two random parcels that weren't on my route.

EV without charging ability at house

I’d love to get an EV but I don’t have the charging capacity at my house. Is there any public charging that doesn’t cost as much as petrol? I have a connected kerb set up a street away, which I’d be happy to use but I think it’s about 44p per kw which I think is nearly as expensive as a petrol or diesel car…

What's the play here? What can be done?

Took a 4 hour shift at 4:45pm, two hours travel to the first drop, 72 miles away. Caught in traffic, delivered parcels, finished at literally 20:44.

Then had an 1hr 30m drive back. Covered 160 mile.

£84, hardly seemed worth it for being out the house for 6 hours. Around £35 in fuel and a £3 toll.

I don't really understand how Plymouth ended up with these parcels considering Redruth have a big depot.

I tried to reach out to the flex support email but nothing.
