The gargantuan industrial lights beamed on, flooding the convention center in harsh white light. Movers carried enormous tables, banners, and flags into the hall under direction from Wakeful. He checked his watch anxiously, counting the few hours until his declaration. He was looking forward to it, in a way, but he also knew the terrible ramifications of what he was about to do. However, he had made up his mind. It had passed the Central Committee, as well. Wakeful was a man of action, not words. Now was the time to prove it.

It took an additional hour past the estimated three to set up the room, but when it was done, the sight was worth it. Countless Communist flags and icons covered the walls, and banners with left-wing slogans were draped across every surface that could fit them. At the head of the hall was a podium for him to speak. There was no microphone- his booming voice was enough.

A while later, it was time. Attendees began filing into hall through each of the three doors, filling seats from the front backwards as they went. By the time the last of the audience entered, nearly every seat was filled. This was to be expected, however. This was no ordinary audience, but a carefully-selected group of individuals, each having received a thorough background check without their knowledge. No right-wing sympathizer could be found in these halls, only those ranging from the undecided to the hard-core Communists. There was one other peculiar detail: nearly every attendee was a man.

Wakeful forced a glass of water down his throat and ran his left hand through his long, swept black hair. He took a deep breath before stepping out onto the podium and gazing out upon the large crowd. There was a deal of polite applause as he did so, which subsided as he began to speak:

"Workers! Brothers. Comrades. There is a whisper going around the world. It can be heard in every hall, every home, every place of work. It is whispered between the legislators in Parliament. It is whispered from the fathers to their young sons. It is whispered on every continent: 'Action against the Communist threat!'"

"The enemies of the workers are putting aside their differences, and working together for the benefit of the wealthy and undemocratic. They realize that the Communists represent a real threat to their hegemony, their once-unbreakable control over every worker. However, we cannot be defeated."

"The capitalists are preparing right now for war. They are arming their sympathizers, and inciting them against the working class. They are shouting of nation, race, and liberty, but they have only themselves in mind. And that war they are preparing for, is a war against you, worker!"

"They believe that if they eradicate every Communist and burn all of our literature, they can stop us for good. But they are mistaken. We require no master, no indoctrination by desperate old men. All we need is that the world be as it is. That is why we will never be defeated. Such is the nature of the immortal science of Marxism."

"They think they can stop what is coming! They think that, with enough propaganda and lies, enough meaningless rhetoric, and enough senseless violence, they can make us go away. But we will always be here, and our aim will always be the same:

"We will depose the tyranny of the ruling class!"

"We will slaughter the enemies of the worker!"

"We will burn the old order to the ground, and from its ashes will rise the Socialist World Republic!"

"We must fight the reactionary threat at every level! We must fight them within and without! We must ensure that nothing remains of the old order, and that our glorious new world will last forever! We must do it not for our own sake, but for the sake of our sons, and their sons! We must do it for the sake of every worker who will ever live!"

"The reactionaries spill out onto the street, imposing their archaic and cruel worldview on our brothers and sisters, our sons and daughters. For that reason, I hereby declare the creation of the Red Front-Fighters!"

"This new organization shall meet the enemies of the workers where they are, on the streets of the DoR! We shall defend the workers not with slow legislation and careful maneuvering, but with our boots and bare hands! And to every worker present here today, this is a call to you! Join the Red Front-Fighters, and defend the working class with the fists you were given!"

The hall erupted with the sound of applause and cheers. Wakeful's oration was successful in stoking the anger of the working class against their enemies. However, he kept his true motive a secret from them. As fate would have it, he could hear a police siren now in the distance, no doubt rushing off to some bourgeois squabble. That was the real point, to balance power against the overwhelmingly right-wing police here on the city streets. He recalled the saying from the East, that every man has three hearts. One in his mouth, for the world to know. Another in his chest, just for his friends. And a secret heart buried deep where no one can find it.
