What would YOU do?

What would YOU do?

I was going to post this on Facebook, but on Facebook, everyone knows who you are, etc! And so! Some years ago, when my mother was unwell, my parents engaged a well-known company, "Mxxxy Mxxxs" to come and tidy-up, hoover around, clean the taps and draining-boards etc... My mother is long gone, but my father keeps them on, (now, once every three weeks or so). He enjoys the visits and the "bustle".. They do NOT change the sheets, do the washing, washing-up, ironing or etc. He is now 91. I dread to think what he pays.. 2 people for an hour via an agency/company? £60.00? £80.00?... No matter... It is his money.. (He is not "wealthy by any standard!) But this last week, they came round. My father was unwell, and still in bed, and so I said.. "Look, do not bother about the upstairs rooms, but if you could make a special effort on the bathroom floor, as I have been repairing a leak, and fixing the shower, and have been walking in and out, and the floor needs a good clean and mopping....Thank you..." Is this acceptable? What would YOU do? Complain to the company? Complain next time they come? Just ignore? ps, I posted this on "r/AskUK" and it was banned by AI bots!

Mat's Campaigns, and other questions..

Hi folks. I am currently enjoying the series of campaigns from Steam Mods called Inventors and Adventurers (by someone called Mat?) I have a number of questions, but as they are all related, and those who know the series will perhaps know the answers to all, I'll put them all here!

  1. On the "Gold! Gold!Gold!" campaign, after completing the objectives, a resource opens up in WhiteHorse.. "WhiteHorse River Port" or smth? A green icon, like the copper, silver and gold ones, but.. green? It does not matter what it is supposed to represent.. (lead maybe?). But I can find no way to exploit or transport from it! I have built truck-stations, tried to hover with delivery spots. The tents in front "light up", as does the outline of the building, but never turns white to show I could pick up from there?
  2. I have spent much $$ and many hours squeezing a second station at Skaguay, clinging on to the side of the cliff and threading roads to connect. It is well served by busses, but very few people want to use it! Especially not the long-haul to WhiteHorse! I assumed this would be a very lucrative passenger route! The Station IS connected, as SOME passengers use it in either direction...
  3. In the next campaign, "R.V Belgica" one of the first objectives is to placate the indigenous people with hides and food. But I have truck lines going to both of their camps, and plenty of those resources waiting, but my trucks seem not to take them, even though some is "allocated" to that route at the pick-up point? Even some trucks leaving with one or two items, when there are many dozens waiting?
  4. A general question... There is a smallish island. I have built two ports, each serving IIRC three large ships. Would it be more efficient to demolish one of them and truck stuff over to the other? In other words, how can I see the operating costs of a port or even a station? Here is the link to the save... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3783128945

Hi Guys. Are there out there, on Steam Workshop or Mod.io or elsewhere, any simple working scenario/savegame/maps?

Hi! I would like to download some running maps/scenarios/savegames, preferably relatively simple ones, but with good examples of junctions, stations, signalling etc? I found a couple of "completed" projects on Steam, but the one I downloaded was huge and would not launch due to loads of mod-dependencies, and I could not see a mod-pack, nor any other way to drag the dependencies in without adding them back individually? I know that people do upload save-games, but these are unlisted and unsearchable?

Am I allowed?

I bought a mower two years ago. It seemed very good for the price. Almost brand-new, I bought it from a chap with, even for urban England, a tiny garden ("yard"). He had inherited it and sold it on FB Marketplace. And so I posted here, to ask for advice. And was banned because I was a bot. I am not a bot.. Ironically, I have resorted to AI to find out about the engine. It is labelled "BMC Lawnrunner" It proudly boasts "Wolf 173cc" The engine is Chinese, Loncin FDG 1P70F 180400279. This might help some others. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BPQKS7cZ0Hscunws6YtqVdfeYgyXqlYL/view?usp=drive_link

A handy tip?

Handy tip.. When disassembling and cleaning a carburettor, on a quiet Sunday, (so that your lawnmower does not advertise to your neighbours that you are an idiot....) When flushing the jets with carb-cleaner, do not do this over your can of beer. Carb-cleaner is a volatile solvent. It is indeed an alcohol. But it does not taste nice, and is probably not good for us hume-beans. I had to actually throw that beer away..! (I tried but it was really NOT good!) And flush my own system with fresh, 'fit for human consumption'. The lawnmower is still hard to start, and surging and powerless. And now, I am too!

Why the Accent? (I asked Google AI)

AI Overview The two dots over the "e" in Citroën (pronounced Cit-ro-en) are a French diacritic called a diaeresis (or tréma in French), which was added to the surname to ensure that the "o" and "e" are pronounced separately rather than as a single sound. The mark is used to guide French speakers to pronounce the name as /sitʁɔɛn/.Here is why the diacritic is there:Linguistic Pronunciation: In French, the combination "oe" can be misinterpreted or blended. The diaeresis tells the reader to break the word at the "e" and pronounce it separately, ensuring it is heard as "Sit-ro-en" instead of "Sit-ron".Family History: The surname is of Dutch origin, derived from the word Citroen (meaning "lemon"), which is pronounced differently in Dutch. When André Citroën’s family moved from Amsterdam to Paris, France, in 1873, the diaeresis was added to the surname to accommodate French pronunciation.Founder's Name: The car brand is named after its founder, André Citroën (1878–1935), a French industrialist. While often mistaken for a German umlaut (which changes the vowel sound), the diaeresis in Citroën specifically serves to separate two consecutive vowels, similar to its usage in words like Noël (no-el) or naïve.
