I just want some validation or suggestions to swapping drives on my DS920+ (mainly used as a Plex server).

Current Pool: [14¹ + 6² + 6³ + 6⁴] //RAID 5

Planned Pool: [14¹ + 14⁵ + 14⁶ + X] //SHR•HYBRID

(Superscript to label individual drives)

Finally getting around to upgrading storage space but I understand that I need to rebuild since I'm going from a 4 to 3 drive pool. I have external drives that have the media content manually backed up.

From my understanding, I will need to:

1. Replace the 3x 6TB drives with the 2x 14TB drives.
2. Reinstall DSM on the new storage pool
3. Restore DSM from exported DSM Configuration
4. Restore Apps + Plex Metadata from Hyper Backup
5. Copy the media content back into place on the new storage pool from the external drives

Is this the correct process to follow? Any QOL suggestions or tips that might help a semi-novice user? TIA

I know the easiest way is just to get 3x 14TB drives but...money, and I'm nearing capacity. I am aware that my current 14TB drive is not able to be fully utilized with my current configuration.
