Buck 112 crossbar update

Some of you might have seen my post from about a week ago with my new 112 that I received with some minor issues. I fiddled with the blade centering enough to just go with it.

The 2nd day of it in my pocket the clip snagged on a doorway as I walked through and it snapped clean off. Pretty minimal force. The clip looks like some crappy pot metal… beyond disappointed considering how hyped I was for this knife. It is getting returned through GovX.

NKD: Buck 112 crossbar

Finally received my Buck 112 crossbar from GovX. My excitement was met with a little bit of disappointment when I saw the blade. It is extremely off-center; rubbing on one side. The blade has a ton of lateral play when closed and I think the tip is chipped—although maybe I am being over analytical there.
The blade slop aside, the knife is everything I had hoped for. Very smooth action, great feel on the finishes, sharp right out of the box.

New VA-312 Short Leaf Blade

New to the sword scene. I’ve bought a LK Chen town guard, swordier type xvia, ronin katana, and now this. The others do not have any sort of corrosion. How common is it for new swords to ship like this?
I am an aircraft metalsmith by trade so I am more than capable of cleaning it up, but honestly just a tad disappointed that I have to because the sword is otherwise beautiful.

Hosts with an EV... am I just having bad luck?

How frequently do you encounter issues? I am contemplating pulling my EV off because about 1 in 6 trips are running into major issues due to lack of EV knowledge from guests.

Examples:

  • Trip ended at 5am. Renter messaged me at 455am to tell me the charger was stuck and they left the vehicle ~15 miles away and uber'd to the airport. Turns out they never unlocked the car (the charging port locks with the doors.)
  • Trip ended at 1130pm. At 6pm they requested an extension to 5am due to "underestimating how long it took to charge." At 502am they messaged me saying they were 2 hours away and ran the car completely out of battery in the middle of a national forest and couldn't afford a tow driver.
  • Trip ended at 8pm. At 8pm they messaged me to tell me they were putting it on a charger and didn't realize how long it was going to take to charge. Returned at 11pm.
