No, Suselle isn't doomed.

Please read this all the way through, I'm trying to approach this objectively and from a writing and character standpoint.

And this is no hate to other ships... I've been critical of them before on this sub but legitimately I've walked it back. I could see the other ships being very compelling in another story, which I think is a massive compliment to Toby Fox's character writing.

I've noticed in the fandom that there's this theory / belief / general feeling held by some people that Suselle isn't going to work out.

And I understand where it comes from, the pacing of their relationship especially with chapter 5 was a weak point in the story. That combined with the fact they are a simple and happy couple, has lead some people I feel like they're "too good to be true". Like Toby Fox is gonna pull the rug out from under them.

But the pacing really is the only problem. How much you enjoy seeing them together is personal and subjective, but their chemistry is strong and their love for eachother is believable even though it's at its earliest stage.

I do think they could've used more time just around eachother casually to build up to the lake scene, for writing quality purposes, but that doesn't make their relationship suspicious in canon. For that to be the case, everything Noelle and Susie said to eachother in that scene would have to have been a lie, or their strong and real feelings would have to be shattered.

And I DO believe their relationship will be tested, I HOPE it will be... Like, if Noelle ends up making a dark world, potentially becoming a full on temporary antagonist, that could definitely cause issues between them. I can see them fighting, I can see Susie being angry and feeling betrayed.

But unless one of them acts COMPLETELY out of character, it would be equally out of character for the other to have their feelings for the other IRRECOVERABLY damaged. Susie would feel betrayed if Noelle, say, went "team knight" or something. But if it was because she wanted to save her DYING FATHER, I think Susie would be understanding.

I could see Noelle make a dark world, work with the knight, blah blah blah XYZ for Rudy related reasons or potentially even Dess related reasons.

I really cannot imagine, though, a compelling way for the final result of this to be Susie saying "Wow Noelle you're a traitor, I don't wanna be your girlfriend anymore."

"I hate you so much because of this that I'm changing my mind about when I said being with you was the happiest day of my life, and how I said I wanted to make your life happy in contrast to the crushing depression that has previously defined your life, which I can relate to."

What would you do if you were Mark?

Season 2 episode 7, Anissa kicked his sorry ass and gave him the pitch: take over your father's mission and conquer Earth, or we'll kill you and do it anyway.

I think I'd give up and do it honestly.

Obviously, that's not really what happened. Mark was right to resist. But GIVEN WHAT HE KNEW, was that really the smart decision?

You're a teenage (half-)Alien, you've had your ass kicked within an inch of your life twice now by grown adults of your own species. You're only alive because they chose to let you live, and this was your last chance.

For all you know, there is an entire army of them. An entire species. You don't know there's only a few dozen of them, but even if you did there's no reason to think you have even a shred of a chance of winning.

If it was JUST that simple, "conquer Earth or die and we'll do it anyway", I would choose to die fighting them. Because I'm not willing to do something so evil just to save my own ass.

But it's not just about me. The Viltrumites they'd send to replace me would be a whole fuck of a lot meaner and impatient than me, if I was put into this position I wouldn't be able to think about anything else but how many more people they would needlessly kill compared to if I was in charge. Even I too would have to do horrible things.

I would think about how if I could get the GDA and world governments to give in quickly, this would all go smoothly and maybe everyone could go on to live lives worth living in the least. If I'm to believe there's even a tiny shred of truth to Nolan and Anissa's promises of health and advancement.

I would think about how my replacement(s) would, if I'm to learn from Nolan and Anissa's habits and what I've heard about Viltrum, let the streets run red with the blood of civilians. How they'd make examples out of surrendering rebels.

A lot of people seem to have misunderstood chapter 5's weird route ending

tw mentions of suicide

In the most glaring examples I've seen people literally say things along the lines of "oh my god i can't believe the weird route is over!", because they seem to think Kris and Noelle are dead. I think the fact it says "insert chapter 7 side B" at the end is all the evidence needed to deconfirm that.

Much more common, and less egregious, I see people painting the end as a suicide attempt by Noelle. Like, even though we obviously know this is going somewhere in chapter 7 and Noelle and Kris must not be truly dead, they think Noelle meant to die.

And I can see why, it's definitely suicide coded. Like God, is Toby okay? The whole thing with Noelle trying to have one last nice good day with Susie, trying to give her all her money, it's legitimately hard to think about.

But Noelle did not intend to die, did not believe she would die. She screams at you (telepathically) to keep proceeding when you're already beneath the water, when you could just stay there and drown anyway. It's almost like she's afraid that if you give up, if you stop telling her to do the impossible, she'll stop being able to do the impossible and you might really drown.

Her entire conversation before this wasn't about how much she hated everything that's happened, how miserable she is because of it, it was about how free she feels and how much she loves it. She wants to feel powerful, wants to do the impossible. The old Noelle might have had suicidal ideations, but she's found a way to not be Noelle.

The coding is incredibly strong and I can see how you can interpret this all differently, I just don't honestly expect that Noelle is going to be disappointed she isn't dead when chapter 7 side B rolls around.

krualsie

I remember a while ago I saw an artist who had a joke ship where Noelle and Ralsei dated eachother while dressed as Kris and Susie respectively, but since the chair jokes have been thoroughly reversed (Kris will watch from the bench), I had this idea instead.

Monsters DO bleed

I genuinely don't understand how this idea that monsters don't bleed has become so popular, because it's pretty thoroughly confirmed that they do.

The "Does it hurt to be made out of blood???" line is the backbone of the no blood theory, and I'll admit it's a weird line otherwise but the counterevidence is completely overwhelming.

WE LITERALLY SEE MONSTERS BLEED.

  • Sans and Susie, as is shown

What if Susie is half human?

  • Have you ever heard of Occam's Razor? Also, Sans bleeds too.

What if only Deltarune monsters bleed, and Sans is from Deltarune?

  • Sans Deltarune theory is kind of convincing, let's say it's definitely true for the sake of argument...

What evidence do we have that Undertale monsters specifically don't bleed?

  • Zero. In this situation, the ONE line that supports monsters not having blood exists in the universe where they actually do have blood.

  • "But we don't see Toriel or Undyne bleed when we wound them!" we also don't see froggits bleeding when they die, plus they're wearing large concealing clothing/armor.

  • Is it that hard to believe Sans had visible bleeding for dramatic effect?

#Aren't monsters made of magic and their only physical material is dust?

  • Yeah, that magic which creates hair and teeth and eyes and skin. And blood.

  • SIDE NOTE—if we did take this as anti-blood evidence, it would further disprove the idea that deltarune monsters are physically different from undertale ones, because we know that they turn to dust when they die too.

Unpopularish opinion: Susie would never be bisexual...

I hope this isn't seen as off topic I feel like it's related enough to the topic of suselle and that people here would have stuff to say about it

that girl is a LESBIAN.

Anyone can be anything obviouslyyy and that's so valid but I don't know how anyone can see this big beautiful butch and even conceive of the idea that she would ever date a man.

"Oh I'm Susie Gaster and this is my BOYFRIEND" like that would ever happen

I just don't understand why that's the consensus, like in sexuality headcanon art Noelle is usually depicted as lesbian while 90% of the time Susie is depicted as bi... Why??

Is it because of Krusie??? News flash, Kris isn't a man, and lesbian includes enbies.

Just because it never happened to you or you haven't personally seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist, or that it's so rare it might as well not exist. The entire comment section is women saying this actually happens and men saying "ugh i know right they're always making up things to be upset about."

I think it comes from a place of genuine ignorance, which isn't something to be judged for alone, but why do you intrinsically think you understand the experience of others so much better than them?
