[Homemade] I baked soda bread, macine (millstones) cookies, gnocchi alla romana (semolina gnocchi) and probably myself in the middle of a heatwave.

Calling out all member of the "I started reading Stephen King when I was a kid"

Is there a book that you absolutely loved as a kid that doesn't hit you in the same way now?
I'll start:
I absolutely loved The talisman as a kid.
I kept reading it until the cover came off the book, and the pages started falling off.
I loved the sense of space and freedom, the magic, and how Travelling Jack managed to not be invisible despite being a kid.
Don't get me wrong: reading it now is still a wild ride, but some of that sense of being kidnapped by aliens has evaporated, while it remains for most of the other books.
Do you have a favourite book that amazed you as a kid and that has lost some of its shine?
Has it ever come back?
