Experiences on amino acid formulas.

Looking for some experiences and reassurance when your LO failed a hydrolyzed formula but thrived on an amino acid one. We switched to nutramigen ~1mo ago and overall demeanour/fussiness appeared to be improving, however the blood has returned and despite more good than bad days, we are back to having extreme pain. LO is also not gaining weight and we are looking at concentrating formula for that.

Working with our dietitian and pediatrician the next step is an AA formula, but with this failed eHF attempt and what our team has told us about taste, etc AND the significant lack of weight gain we’ve been experiencing, I’m so scared we’ll struggle on an AA formula as well. Hoping to hear some personal experiences of LOs who had much more success with demeanour/blood/weight gain when switching from eHF to AA.

Baby likes carrier on husband but not me?

As the title says, my baby seems to love the carrier when worn by my husband - he falls asleep right away. When I wear him however, he screams almost instantly. I’ve tried adjusting, have tried both a wrap and carrier (the ergobaby embrace as my LO is quite tiny). We ensure we are following TICKS when both of us wear him, my husband is ~6ft, 230lbs and I’m ~5’3 150lbs. Does anyone have advice on why my LO does not like being carried by me but is very comfortable when carried by my husband? open to suggestions! TIA.

Switched pump and worsened engorgement/oversupply

Looking for some advice/experience. I recently switched from using the Medela Symphony to the swing maxi as a primary pump (received from a family member so was hoping to try it out before buying a spectra which was my backup plan - also have a freestyle available).

So far my output has been comparable, but I’ve noticed I need to pump more frequently because my engorgement is insane. I was going 4-6+ hours at least with my symphony and comfortable but now I’m barely pushing 3 hours and my breasts are so full, painful and leaking everywhere.

I was using setting 6 on both pumps for about 10-13min and felt it was comparable/comfortable.

So I’m curious if anyone knows what could be causing this increase/engorgement and how I can fix it? I’ve already got an oversupply so this is making it exponentially worse as I can’t go more than 3 hours. It’s also making nights horrible.

Any advice is greatly appreciated 💕

Lochia vs period?? - when did yours start?

I’ll be 6 weeks post c-section tomorrow and have been exclusively pumping the entire 6 weeks (~4-5ppd and will go 6+ hours between pumps at times so not super compliant), FTM. I’d been having some prolonged bleeding/spotting the entirety of my post partum, but it had tapered off to discharge about 5 days ago. Yesterday I started having bright red bleeding again, and today it has really picked up - probably more than I had even immediate post op. I did have a very active weekend because I finally have been feeling good, so am curious if people have had their period come back this early even when pumping vs it being lochia/overexertion related?? I’m also having quite a bit of cramping and pain, have had uncomplicated recovery aside from bleeding otherwise.

(I’ve reached out to my OB and they were very not concerned, also have 6 weeks follow up tomorrow but curious others experiences). TIA!!
