There were shared dates in 92, a tour in 96. There are just so many songs between La Sexorcisto and Astrocreep 2000 where I can imagine Dime just wailing along unrestrained. J wasn’t a flashy guitarist, but GYOT DAYUMM did he write some inescapable riffs. Anyone know if that ever happened or have any links?

Fireflies at my place are still wildly abundant. Currently watching them pop off faster than I can count — almost unchanged since March. Anyone else have a good year for fireflies?

Constantly getting the runaround for Rx we’ve had for years continuously for something called “waiting on physician authorization.” Theres a prescription, here’s multiples years of it being approved and filled, and so what… now we need a prescription for a prescription? in June of 2023 we adopted a kitten at an adoption even at the PetCo in Hixson on 153. He is the sweetest boy, and one of the chillest cats we’ve ever met. And drop dead gorgeous on top of that (basically a blue point ragdoll by variety).

At the time we had been talking “get out cat a kitten” for our other kitty because he was so curious and high strung. It was a fantastic fit for us and our existing kitty and they’re thick as thieves to this day. The advice we were reading strongly recommended another boy as kitty no. 2 in such situations, and again, totally right call on the dynamic.

But…. In the same litter he had a sister, a mostly white calico named Clementine. He turned out so fluffy and gorgeous it’s been a thing every once in a while to think “wow, I wonder what Clementine ended up looking like?” We couldn’t add two kitties back then so we couldn’t add Clementine to the family then. But probably someone else around here adopted Clementine? If ya did we would love to see pics of his sister 😊

I like me some physics, and I math real good, but alas…. I’m an engineer. Y’all discover and we do our best to make it pragmatic e.g. quantum stuff becomes transistors and then Moore’s law.

I also fish. I love fly fishing in particular. It’s the most autistic kind of fishing AFAIC because you never stop moving, and the muscle memory is perfectible like speed running a level of vidya.

In addition to stimming with a fly rod I also tie flies.

I’d like to construct popper flies with defined buoyancy characteristics. So obviously the precise weight of materials matters, but with materials like foam and wood I have difficulty estimating the voids in the material that introduce positive buoyancy as a force I can turn into uppy / downy vectors.

Volume is also challenging to determine in a way that I can accomplish with eureka-bathtub water displacement methodology. Cause flies are “small”. There’s an impractical amount of iteration for the media and the measurements would be by pipette.

How do I most easily set up a method to empirically determine buoyancy contrition of a given material?

EDIT: fake bonus points for tips on how to adjust for Bernoulli so I can target both a rate of descent and a maximum depth in water of a given temperature.

Around 2008 or so I noticed something I called “driving angry,” and despite thinking it was a “me problem,” I look back on it as a societal bellwether.

Based on where family lived, after getting my license in the late 90s I drove SO MUCH of I-10, I-20, and I-40, plus I-55, 65, 75, and 85.

Merging and passing, as well as long distance ‘pack’ driving were neutral and mechanical. Finding 3-5 cars who wanted to go the same speed sometimes felt like an honorable mission where likeminded strangers would tap turn signals and brake lights like salutes.

Sometimes someone would need to exit and it felt like losing a friend.

Then it became more prevalent to use a turn signal when needing to merge and …… the car beside you would speed up. Either subtle and passive aggressive, or full on speed-matching and middle fingers.

The sentiment went from “we’re in this together,” to “fuck you, fuck your car, and fuck the hopes and needs of its occupants.”

2010-2019 was steady escalation.

2020 brought empty roads and broad recognition of all our own mortality.

2022 it was on like Donkey Kong — by which I mean driving went full Mario Kart.

It hasn’t gotten better since then. Every merge is one concealed carry law away from a NSFW TikTok.

Tl;dr from 2008 to 2026 USA behavior behind the wheel has been an unfortunate barometer for division and aggression.

I have some specific raw materials (mostly other blades) that are meaningful to me that I would love to see turned into something I would use and cherish.

Just to say it out loud, yes paid, no “for the exposure” bs. I’m hoping someone nearby-ish might be interested to simplify logistics given a key part of the idea is to reuse specific materials (mostly 1095-C, but a few other pieces).
