Starting October 11, 2026, the Thiruvananthapuram–Kannur Jan Shatabdi Express (12082) will feature new LHB Non-AC Chair Car coaches with pushback seats, offering passengers a more comfortable journey.
The Thiruvananthapuram–Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi services (12076/12075) are also expected to receive the upgrade in the second phase.
The move comes as welcome news for passengers who have been complaining about the uncomfortable, upright seating in Jan Shatabdi trains.

The annual Navarathri Mandapam concerts will be held from October 12 to 20 at the Navarathri Mandapam, next to Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Thiruvananthapuram.

The nine-day programme features traditional Carnatic music performances by renowned vocalists and instrumentalists. The complete artist schedule is included in the post.

A few important rules for those attending:
• Men: Mundu and bare-chested
• Women: Saree or set mundu
• Girls: Pavada and blouse
• Phones must be switched off during the concert
• No applause or flash photography
• Visitors are expected to remain seated until the concert ends

For those unable to attend, the concerts will also be broadcast after 9 PM on All India Radio – Thiruvananthapuram and the official YouTube channel.
