DIYers: What would you do differently on your wall moulding project?

I’m considering tackling a DIY wall panelling picture frame moulding project and would love to learn from anyone who’s based in Toronto and has done it before.

Where did you buy your moulding? Did you cut mitres yourself? How? Any recommendations for finishing, painting or avoiding any mistakes?

I did inquire from professional companies… it is either too small for them to take on or quoted too expensive for what I’m asking.

Would appreciate any tips, recommendations!

Canada | how to get a visa for my Nanay to visit

Hello everyone, I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with Canadian visitor visas.

There is someone in the Philippines whom I consider my second mother. She isn’t related to me by blood, but family is about much more than blood, and she has been one of the most important people in my life.

In the few years I lived in Manila, she cared for me and my sisters with so much love and dedication. Later, when my mother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, she stayed by her side and cared for her selflessly until the very end. I will never be able to fully repay the kindness, sacrifice, and love she gave our family.

One of my biggest dreams is to have her come stay and visit us few months a year. I would love the chance to take care of her for a change, show her around Canada, create wonderful memories together, and simply give back some of the love she has given me throughout my life.

Has anyone here successfully helped someone who was not a blood relative obtain a Canadian visa, particularly a senior?

If so, I would be incredibly grateful to hear about your experience, any challenges you faced, and any advice you might have.

Any guidance or insight would mean a lot to me.

Toronto drivers: am I getting ripped off on insurance, or is this the new normal

I'm currently shopping for car insurance and the quotes I've received have left me wondering whether I'm doing something wrong or if rates have just gone completely crazy.

Background:
2022 vehicle (Audi Q5) / No accidents / No tickets or traffic violations / Clean driving record/ Toronto resident now (vs Oakville.. was told it changes based where you live)

less than 15k kms drive per year/ in my 40s/ driving in Ontario since 2022 (moved from BC)/ I do drive to and from the office 3x a week approx 33kms)

The quotes I've received so far:
~$4,700/year
~$5,600/year

That's roughly $390–$470 per month, which seems pretty wild for someone with a clean record.

For those of you living in Toronto:

What are you paying?
Which insurance company or broker are you with?
Did you find a better rate through a broker, direct insurer, etc.?

Any tips, recommendations, or recent experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance—hopefully this thread helps other drivers too!

Softest linen sheets? Also waffle cotton vs linen?

Need recommendations where to buy the best (soft, breathable and nice feel on the skin) linen sheets? Anyone tried quince? West elm? St. Geneve?

Also is linen really good or would you rather get a waffle cotton set one?

Thank you!
