Can you ID these for me (Finland)

I was yesterday in Nokia, Finland and saw two kinds of birds I couldn't ID with confidence. This was small forest lake.

So the first kind was in group of three. They were divers and spent more time in the water than on the surface. They were pitch black and smaller than mallards. I was thinking they were Eurasian coot but they didn't have white peak. Though I wasn't very near them, so maybe I didn't see it. But is there any other bird they could be?

The other one was alone in same spot on a rock. I was thinking it must be a female and it had nest there. Just because it wasn't moving a lot and if it did, it only moved few metres. I was thinking it might be Eurasian wigeon. However, it was light brown with white spots. I saw online picture of one Eurasian wigeon looking like it, so I attach it here. But only detail throwing me off is that the bird looked big. Not as big as swan but closer to it than mallard. So it looks like the picture but I think it was bigger. But again, I was on the opposite side of the lake. So it might have thrown me off.

I just cant with this yarn

I have experienced many yarns. Different weights and different fibers. Some bad, some good. I also would describe myself intermediate knitter. So, I am sure my issues aren't related to my knitting skills.

So, I bought Sandnes-garn duo yarn last year for this top. Firstly, I had to go down two needle sizes. I usually use the recommended needle size just fine but it came out loose.

Secondly, my tension is all over the place. Again, doesn't happen with any other yarn or projects. My tension usually is pretty even. However, somehow it is very hard to get even tension with this yarn. It is just too loose. Which is weird because I am using smaller needles and my tension is tight.

Thirdly, there are few odd things that happen with this yarn. Multiple stitches are undone every row. What I mean is that somehow when I knit my stitches, they actually just get passed on to the left needle with yarn over. Again, this rarely happens to me with other yarns. But with this one it is on every row multiple times.

Lastly, it is so slippery. I am using wooden needles but still my stitches keep falling off the needle. I also think many of the previous problems are explained by this.

I really got so frustrated that I abandoned the first project. I just really wanted to get rid of the yarn, so I started new project. But I really cannot enjoy it because of these issues.

It is kind of odd thing. I usually love Sandnes-garn yarns. They are such great quality. However, this one is the worst yarn I ever used. Just a warning for everyone.

I don't know if anyone actually reads my rant but I felt like I needed to vent

Is there a name for this sweater construction

I have made few sweaters in the following way

First you cast on few stitches to make a shoulder/back/front, then add to it by making increases and at the end joining it in the round

I just find it more enjoyable because it is much more fun to work up from a few stitches rather than casting on 50 stitches or more at first. That way I get more done in less timem I also find the fit of these sweaters better.

How could I search for such patterns in Raverly? Is there even any name for it?

How do you perceive birds

So, I live in Finland, where we don't have excotic birds. The birds we have here are very basic looking. Muted colours that are mainly white, black, green, brown, some may have some yellow or blue but not much. No outstanding features. Just basic birds.

It might sound like I am bashing our birds, I am not. I love every bird I see. No matter is it a crow or tit or something else.

My point is that for me, these birds are the common ones that come to mind if I need to think how bird looks like. But here, in this sub, I see many pictures of unique birds with outstanding features and colourful feathers.

These birds I see in this sub are something I would only see in captivity if I was lucky. So it is mind blowing that some of you have these come to your feeder regularly.

So, I was thinking, how do you percieve them. Do you ever get use to these birds or are you always at awe when you see one? Are these common ones for you? What kind of bird you think if you need to think of a bird?
