I am taking my 16-year-old daughter on a trip in August. She loves California and we have been many times. She prefers Los Angeles and surrounding areas, but I am open to other places. In the past, we have split our trip and spent several days on the beach (Santa Monica, Malibu), and several days in LA (mainly West Hollywood). While I don't mind repeating this trip, I am looking for ways to branch out.

She is very mature and a seasoned traveler. What she loves to do: beaches, driving the coast, vintage shopping/thrifting, access to amazing gluten free food, crafting workshops, landmarks to take pictures for social media :), and anything having to do with the film industry, makeup/special effects.

My daughter is about to get her permit and we want to get her a car soon so she can practice driving in the car she will eventually drive full-time.

Looking for pre-owned recommendations on the following: hybrid preferred, compact suv (smaller the better, I just want her higher up because she’s short).

Obviously not looking for super high-end, but budget is flexible because safety is a priority.

She commutes just a few miles to school every day. We live in Pennsylvania, so only have a few weeks of snow/ice and she probably wouldn’t drive those days anyway.
