Historians in ATLA universe are noticing that the Avatar cycle sometimes skips the water element and goes directly from air to earth when examining historical records. Even after searching the records for a long time, they couldn't figure out the reason. Then, a female scholar from the northern water tribe proposes a theory explaining the cause. Because women were forbidden from receiving bending training according to their tribe's traditions, many female avatars born in the north never made their place in history. These women, born with the destiny of mastering the four elements, were never able to discover themselves or fulfill their duty to the world because of the bigotry of their people. Although the avatar, master of the four elements, possessed power great enough to subdue armies and spirits, it had succumbed countless times to discrimination and bigotry.
