PR through property purchase

I know each country will have its on guidelines. Does any country let you finance your home with a mortgage and still give you residency?

PR through property purchase

When buying property for residency, can the property be financed. I’m sure each country has its own process. Please let me know if you have any info about this.

TIA

How is living in Arraijan?

How is living in Arraijan compared to El Cangrejo? The good the bad and the ugly. Trying to narrow down my search before arriving next month. I’m retired and looking for a safe walkable area around Panama City.

Arraijan

What is it like living in Arraijan? I’m going next month to look at different places to retire. How is the cost of living compared to El Cangrejo?

Cost of living

Can a couple live a comfortable life, eating out several times a week on $2,200 net after insurance and taxes? Preferably somewhere on the coast

Write off or judgment

I owe about $500k in unsecured debt. $150k credit cards, $200k personal signature loans at the bank and the rest are business loans with a personal guarantee.
I lost everything during Covid including my 28 year marriage. I’m too old to start over.
I’ve been living in third world countries since January 2021. Now in Quito Ecuador.
My only income is social security and that definitely isn’t enough to live in the USA and I have no assets. I know they can’t garnish social security. My understanding is once a loan is charged off I will owe taxes on that amount.
My first lawsuit is set for this September, Amex for $65k. I’m sure the others won’t be far behind.
Question, am I better off not going to court (already approved for tele court) and letting them get a judgment against me. The thought is, it could take several years for them to charge it off after receiving the judgment. As I said, too old to start over. Won’t be looking for credit of any sort.

Your thoughts?

I have always lived in Texas and just realized the statute of limitations is 4 years. That means everything is pasted the four years but two credit cards. Amex $65k and chase 45k. Starting to feel a little better.

Thanks for all the comments.
