any big o physical release with the original opening?

i’ve been meaning to get this anime on physical for the longest time, as it’s not streaming anywhere. i was excited to find out today that discotek is giving it a brand new blu-ray release? up until this point, i was going to get the older sentai release off ebay. so this was welcome news.

but then i found out that the big o’s original opening wouldn’t be included. apparently, sentai’s release doesn’t have it either?

now its not the biggest deal in the world to me to not have one song (although i did get evangelion’s platinum collection specifically because of the old music), but if there is a us release out there with the original opening, then i’d love to know.

who are our best international players of all time?

this is sort of a loaded question. i’m a new soccer fan who wants to know more about the fire and our history. but i also want to know because i love how soccer kits look, and i’d love to buy one from a player of ours (past or present) who played in premier league, la liga, etc.

the main guys i know of are schweinsteiger, blanco, shaqiri, and of course, lewandowski. is there anyone else?

4 more soccer questions as a newbie.

  1. why do football clubs in europe sell retro jerseys on their own websites, while mls clubs here don’t? hell, not just mls clubs, but american sports in general?

(to be fair, i can kinda figure it out myself. it’s just frustrating. i would LOVE to buy a retro fire jersey from the 90s/00s directly from my club’s website themselves, but i can’t. we haven’t even released our third jersey yet. i was just curious and searched up ac milan merchandise (LOVE their colors and kit overall) and i was shocked to see an entire retro section??? that is not normal in the us, even for other leagues. i’ve only looked at a few other club websites, big ones like real madrid and arsenal. they also have a retro section, and i am blown away. the money that could made would be insane. instead, we have to scroll through the few player jerseys that mitchell & ness have, but our main way of finding them is through ebay, depop, etc. i think that’s so cool and i wish, at the very least, that mls and other american soccer leagues would start doing that. y’all are so lucky.)

  1. leagues cup in mls seems very confusing, and i personally don’t understand why liga mx would even agree to do this when it seems like we’re only just NOW playing games in mexico?? i also hate that it’s the top mls teams from LAST season that participate. that makes zero sense to me.

  2. do you think the mls changing to a european schedule will be good overall? we won’t need to worry about our team’s chemistry changing in the middle of the season anymore, but i also just realized that we’re also going to be playing a long stretch of road games (not just chicago, but any team in a cold area) on TOP of coming back from a long break, which isn’t going to help much for places like chicago anyway, where our winters last long—sometimes into mid-april. won’t that kill fan interest a bit? even for me, who’s never been able to go to any game for my team, just watching us endlessly play road games is gonna start to wear on me as well.

  3. why do soccer kits change every year?

a dozen silly questions as a new soccer fan.

1.) how does the mls work compared to european leagues? designated player spots, salary cap, etc?

2.) how can the us get better as a country in the sport of football/soccer?

3.) how will the mls’s new calendar starting in the 2027-28 season make the league better, and help align them with the european leagues?

4.) how long does the transfer window last; and can transfers happen between any team, in any league?

5.) are there trades in soccer? or just player transfers?

6.) why are terms different in football? side instead of team, level instead of tie, nil instead of zero, etc?

7.) i know about stoppage time, but is there also stoppage time within stoppage time?

8.) is it at the refs discretion when the half and game as a whole ends? i’ve never seen a half end immediately after stoppage time, its usually 10-20 seconds after.

9.) how come soccer is so passionate? as an american i’m not used to seeing smoke bombs, tifo’s, streamers (well kinda cause i used to watch wrestling), etc. the atmosphere in soccer is a big reason why i want to get into it. doesn’t seem like there’s anything else like it. the atmosphere in hockey is also a part of why i got into that.

10.) can a soccer transfer be player for player?

11.) can there be multiple players transferred to one team?

12.) what’s going on with fifa rn? corruption? did people call the world cup corrupt because of trump calling about balogun’s red card?

  1. how come players can still play the ball when it’s out of bounds and/or on the line?

  2. what does aggregate mean, and is it important for playoff seeding, making the playoffs, standings, etc? i see the term brought up a lot.

thank you in advance for answering and helping me out! vamos fire! go stars! go usa!

new soccer/football fan here. would it be in my best interest to follow a team in the european leagues as well, along with my mls and nwsl team (fire/stars)?

hi. i’m brand new to this sport, after watching a lot of the world cup (supported mexico because my girlfriend is mexican). i want to get into it.

but i know, specifically in the mls’s case, that i’m not watching the best that football has to offer. seems like some of the best players in europe will come to the mls later in their career, while mls guys who want to prosper on a bigger stage will go to epl, la liga, etc.

so i thought that maybe it would be a decent idea to adopt some teams from the european leagues? since this is a very global sport, and unlike the nfl, nba, and other american sports i watch; the mls is not the best league in its sport.

i don’t see myself watching many games, if at all. just teams to casually keep up with, keep myself
updated with the global game, and maybe there’s a chance a player from there will come to the fire, or from the fire to there, and i can still cheer them on.

my picks as of right now are manchester united, ac milan, atletico madrid, paris saint germain, and dortmund. i wanted to pick a team from each of the top leagues, because ive at least heard of these leagues. and it gives me a wider range of news and players to learn about.

or would that be too much? and should i just go with one team, since uefa champions league is a thing?

i cant find many active mls content creators (NOT podcasters) at all, but i can find of bunch of content creators for the european leagues. so i want to get connected, since those players could maybe come to the fire or mls at some point. some even play for the usmnt (pulisic).

this is just such a global game, very different from what i’m used to, so i feel like it’s in my best interest to adopt at least one of these teams. apparently a lot of mls fans have at least one european team, which im not surprised by.

thank you in advance for your help!

new softball/ausl/bandits fan here, would like help getting into the league :)

hi. i’m a girl who’s been into baseball for a few years (cubs), and i recently stumbled across this pro softball league in my instagram feed.

i want to follow as many women’s sports as i can, so this is awesome. i did a lot of research, seems like the bandits kinda had a head start to the rest of the league with how good are because they’ve been a franchise the longest—since 2005.

i couldn’t watch any games this year, i came in very late obviously. but i did keep up with the championship on social media. but i’ll watch next season. getting cable again just to watch this sport.

i can’t see any differences between softball and baseball, other than it’s 7 innings instead of 9, and it’s a soft green yellow ball instead of a hard white ball. the positions are the same. the size of the field is smaller. the pitching is obviously way different. any other differences i should know?

i have never actually watched a softball game before. my girlfriend’s sister-in-law plays in a beer league here in chicago, and she also watched the bandits, so that helped my decision to get into it.

i don’t like utah, for obvious reasons. i also love coffel, williams, zerkle, wallace, agbayani, and kilfoyl.

i hope to see a lot more teams added in the future. college softball has so much talent that just have their careers end because there’s nothing to do afterward (in the us anyway), and i’m so happy that this league exists. hoping for a rapid expansion, similar to what the pwhl is doing (hoping chicago gets a team for women’s hockey too, but i’m losing hope). is there any news on potential expansion anytime soon?

i also saw that there’s a pro women’s baseball league about to start soon. not to sound disrespectful, but i personally don’t understand the point of that? softball is the women’s thing in the us, and while i don’t like that it’s rooted historically in sexism, there’s college softball teams and not college baseball teams for women. so it kinda seems redundant to me. also, it’s not going to get support from the mlb like this league is, so i don’t really get the point of it? and a lot of the women that play there are either overseas baseball players, or played softball here. wouldn’t it just make sense to merge them in the ausl?

again, not trying to be disrespectful. i’m a new fan. that’s just my opinion as an outsider.

i’d also love for somebody to tell me how in god’s name the all star cup works. i’ve tried to read and understand it, but i just can’t.

anyways, go bandits! we will be back next year and finally win it all.

want to get into soccer bc of the world cup. help a new female fire fan out?

hi. as i said in the title, i’m coming from the world cup. my girlfriend is mexican, and was going for mexico. i watched mexico vs england, my first soccer match ever, and i was blown away by what i was watching. from all i’ve heard about soccer by other americans, their constant shitting on the game—i was very surprised and pleased. i watched every world cup game after that.

now, i want to get into my local team. i’ve heard of the red stars more than i have the fire, mainly because of swanson and some of the uswnt talent we’ve had on our team in our history. the only thing i’ve really heard about the fire is how bad they’ve been 🫠 until recently anyway.

i’ve done a lot of research. i saw that we won the mls cup in our first year as a franchise. blanco, thornton, kubik, armas, razov, nowak, etc, just some of the names i know of that were a part of the good years. then after the late 2000s, seems like we fell off a cliff for well over a decade, and are just now becoming relevant again.

i will say that, as much as it frustrates some people, i love that i can watch mls on a single streaming service, as opposed to some being on cable, some streaming, different channels, etc. i like that it’s all in one place.

i also love and was very surprised to see how many illinois natives are currently playing for us. i don’t know if this is a thing with every club/side, if every club for the most part has a lot of state/city natives like we do—but it helps get me feeling connected with the team a lot more.

now i’ll say this: there’s some things that i’ve gotta get used to, and some things i don’t like. it’s an adjustment from the rest of the sports i watch (nfl, nba, mlb, nhl, wnba, even the nwsl) that this is, apparently, the 10th best football league. i’m not at all surprised by that, even as a casual i know that premier league is where the best play, but it’s still an adjustment for me when i have grown up watching all these other leagues that are the best of the best, then watching the players here.

it is also annoying to hear that this is a retirement league. i get it though, a lot of stars overseas come here towards the end of their career. messi was huge. and our recent pickup will hopefully be huge for us too.

as for the fire, i was really excited when i realized lewandowski is one of the goats. that excitement diminished when i found out it was at the cost of losing cuypers. i am not a fan of losing the 29 year old golden boot race leader for a 37 year old who’s nearing the end of his career (yes ik he was still productive in his last season at barcelona), and we’ve lost both games i’ve watched since his debut, so that’s bummed me out. also finding out mbokazi won’t be back for a while, possibly the rest of the season, while also in trade rumors? that’s not great either.

i am not trying to be negative tho. just my opinions and stuff i’ve heard coming into this. i really want to try and get into this sport, i’d just like a little help doing it. do the fire have any active rivalries? is the mls getting better in your eyes? content creators (no podcasts please lol) on youtube i can follow? who should i hate? also wdym vancouver and columbus could be relocated???

thank you, and vamos fire. ⚽️🔥

new person here, who wants to get into soccer/football.. leaning more towards the nwsl than mls?

hi. i’m a girl who’s currently into the nfl, nba, mlb, nhl, and wnba. i’m trying to get into as many women’s pro sports as i can.

i watched a lot of the world cup bc my girlfriend is mexican—so i was going for mexico. i was really blown away by the game, and i want to try and get into this sport full time. i had planned to watch both the fire and stars (i’m a chicagoan), and i’ve watched the games i could over the last week or two.

but the mls.. idk. something feels off. the quality of play feels so much worse than the nwsl to me. apparently it’s the 10th best soccer league in the world, so i guess that explains it. but it’s something im not used to, going from watching the best leagues in the world for those other sports, to watching the 10th best with noticeably lesser talent. the fire’s recent move hasn’t helped me get any more interested, on top of their history of being incompetent. and it gets very tiring hearing about mls being nothing more than a retirement league, which seems to be kinda true—but i don’t want to be disrespectful, i am an outsider just trying to learn about the game.

then i see the nwsl, which ive heard of before because dansby plays for the cubs, and mallory for the stars. naturally, there was a connection there. and even though the stars are generationally ass rn (tf you mean we haven’t scored in a SINGLE loss we’ve had all year omg), i still enjoy watching because the level of play here seems way ahead of the mls—again, i say this as an outsider.

i’m curious how the nwsl compares to the mls with the stars they bring in, if there’s a cap, general differences, etc. i know marta is in the league, she’s one of the best of all time, and she came here towards the end of her career. i don’t see the nwsl get branded as a retirement league though. obviously this league hasn’t been around as long as the nwsl, but given that this is the best women’s football league in the world—neck and neck with barclays wsl—do stars overseas typically come here earlier in their career?

i also am sure that women’s players who are american play better than the american men, bc women’s soccer for the national team here historically has been far and away better than the usmnt.

anyway, i’m just curious because i’m leaning towards just watching the nwsl, as opposed to both, and i want help getting into the league and sport in general. go stars. ⭐️
