Rating Apartments in Kent

After living in Prose Kent this year, and touring several other nice apartments in the area, I wanted to give you guys my ratings on my impressions of them in case someone else is apartment hunting in the future!

Prose - For starters, we moved out not because of apartment itself, it was honestly the best layout of any apartment around. We moved because they increased rent by the maximum amount this past year and also the general vicinity is dangerous. With my wife working night shifts, we no longer feel
comfortable. The adjacent buildings are low income apartments that have cops coming almost every day (domestic violence being the most common) and homeless encampments. Living on Central is also a pain since it gets congested so easily. To get on 167, you also need to make an illegal U-turn.
The apartment itself is very nice, but poorly constructed. It’s entirely wood and living on the fifth floor, it felt like mini earthquakes since any vibration will make the entire apartment shake. Most expensive apartment in the area.
Apartment Quality: 7/10
Safety: 3/10
Price: 1/10
Overall: 4/10

Take these next reviews with less merit. We have toured them thoroughly and done our due diligence, but others who have actually lived here will be able to help out better than me.

Kairos - Just signed a lease here. Honestly super impressed with everything here, and is pretty tucked away from the craziness on Meeker. Security is more responsive, and management seems to know what they’re doing. Expensive but not as much as Prose. The units are smaller and less of that “luxury” feel, but the environment around it as well as its location is just so much better. High hopes for this to be a longer lease than Prose.
Apartment Quality: 6/10
Safety: 8/10
Price: 3/10
Overall: 6/10

ReNew Waters Edge (and the Lakes) - Most apartments here were nice and more budget friendly. It just wasn’t for us, but I could see families loving this area as it is the safest of all places we toured. It is rather dated but probably the best value.
Apartment Quality: 5/10
Safety: 10/10
Price: 7/10
Overall: 7.5/10

Midtown 64 - This is Kairos/Ethos level quality in a much worse part of Meeker. Instead of a golf course and trail view, you’re getting cars, crackheads, and gas stations. It is a bit cheaper but definitely doesn’t feel as safe.
Apartment Quality: 4/10
Safety: 2/10
Price: 6/10
Overall: 4/10

Alexan Gateway - Horrible location, management was unorganized, and parking looks like a nightmare. Best part of this was its vicinity to I5. Next to a crackshack and an RV lot.
Apartment Quality: 4/10
Safety: 3/10
Price: 4/10
Overall: 3/10

I wanna thank you guys for helping my wife and I find our next apartment! I just wanted to share my thoughts after doing my hunt in hopes it’ll help the next Kent resident looking for an apartment.

Cheers!

What's the best board to transition with Jinx 3* BBC Cashout?

It's clearly too strong, and I just top 2'd with it, but I'm sure with an optimized board I could've won out (Jinx was doing like 20k damage a turn with a 4 Van frontline).

What's the best way to play this cashout? I went for Aatrox/Kindred package + 4 Vanguards + Splash

Difficulty finding the right apartment for my wife and I

Hi everyone,

My wife and I are looking to move out of Prose Kent after living here for about a year, and I wanted to ask for honest opinions on a few apartment communities we’re considering:

Solera Renton Highlands (far but we like the new building)
Ethos / Kairos (we heard Meeker is dangerous / others give mixed opinions)
Island Park / ReNew Waters Edge (Nice, but not really what we were looking for)
ReNew East Hill (haven’t gotten to tour yet, but the general area seemed unideal)
Alexan Gateway (haven’t gotten to tour yet but saw the roads adjacent were very congested getting out)

I know there are no perfect apartments, we just want to make sure we make the right choice. We’d be leaving our third apartment now (after each lease ended) and want a more semipermanent place to call home.

Any others we are missing?

For context, we’re moving because the area around our current apartment has not felt very safe for us. We’ve dealt with people shooting firecrackers nearby, people sneaking in and stealing packages, and the Central Ave area is just super busy and annoying to get in and out of. On top of that, our rent got increased by basically the maximum amount, so we’re ready to leave.

Our biggest priorities are:

Safety: especially feeling safe walking to and from the car. My wife wakes up around 2 AM for work, so this is really important.

A nicer apartment: newer or recently renovated would be ideal, but we care more about safety than luxury.

Community / area: we’re both Asian and grew up around Asian communities/cities, so having good Asian food nearby or a stronger Asian community would be a big plus.

For anyone who has lived at or near any of these apartments, how did you feel about the area? Any issues with car break-ins, package theft, noise, sketchy activity, management, maintenance, or rent increases?

Would you recommend any of these, or are there others nearby that we should consider instead?

Thanks in advance.

My wife and I are completely infatuated with this neighborhood and are moving out this summer of our current apartment.

What would you say are your favorites?
